Description

Description

For a one of a kind summer experience, this is the place to be - overlooking Cape Cod Bay with your own private beach. Built by our family 112 years ago as a summer retreat, this cottage uniquely possesses the charm and lifestyle of the last century with modern amenities for a relaxing vacation.

Experience a private and unique vacation in a lovingly maintained family cottage with four upstairs bedrooms equipped with comfortable full size beds. Fall asleep to the sounds of the waves and ocean breezes. Downstairs the cottage has a fully equipped modern kitchen and washer/dryer. There is a 1/2 bath on the main floor and an outdoor enclosed shower under the sun and stars. The open plan dining room and living room have original furniture and lighting with internet, cable, Apple TV and modern updates throughout.

Outside a wrap around deck with bench swing, hammock, and deck chairs offer views of the entire Cape with spectacular sunsets. A private stair leads to your beach below equipped with beach chairs and beach umbrellas.

The cottage is located in North Truro close to Provincetown but without the hustle and bustle. North Truro has many attractions including the Salty Market Grocery and Package Store, a chocolate factory, Highland golf course, lighthouse and museum, bike trails through the dunes, a winery, library, restaurants, bank, church and many planned activities hosted by the Town. Truro beaches on the ocean are arguably the best on the Cape.

If you want to spend time in Provincetown without the hassle of driving and parking, there is a bus to Provincetown and the beaches which runs every 20 minutes until midnight!

Unparalleled

A dream destination if you crave character, a beautiful vista, privacy, and access to the beach. The owners have taken tremendous care for a 112-year-old property and took careful consideration of our arrival with a clean home, additional supplies provided, a lovely welcome and very responsive to our questions before and during our stay. There is no replacing what the age of the cottage brings. It is brimming with character and nuance that is not replicated. Our family of 4 was more then comfortable and swept away in our own oasis. show more show less

Dreamy North Truro Family Home

We just came back from a week at the cottage and the view from the bedroom window is now one of my very favorites. We've spent many summer weeks in Truro, but this was our first time staying directly on the bay and it was heavenly.

The house is rustic, but in the loveliest, and most wonderful way. I love the family history and our family of four was so comfortable here (in fact, last night my daughter said she missed us being so close together).

The kitchen is well stocked (olive oil, spices, sugar, and even butter in the fridge) and it was so nice to find that they'd left shampoo and conditioner in the outdoor shower. Amazing also to find the gift that they'd left us to enjoy as we watched our first sunset.

Thank you so much for sharing your family home with us.

My family (my husband, I and two grown daughters) had the pleasure of staying in your house the first week in August. We've been renting at the Cape for 30 years and had the best vacation ever, largely because the view from your deck is transformative. We loved the house in part because of its history but also for the thoughtful touches, ie the grab bars on the stairs, the very comfortable beds, the well stocked kitchen, and the outdoor shower. For me the house had particular resonance because I grew up in a house on Long Island with a similar 180 degree on a bay. show more show less

My three great aunts and my grandmother built the cottage in 1908 on the dune above the ''Cold Storage'' fish plant. They took the train from New York to the North Truro Station (originally 500 feet from the cottage) every summer and walked up the tracks to the cottage. As years went by they updated the cottage with running water and electricity and yet the cottage remains very much the same as it was in the early 1900's. The cottage remains in the family more than 100 years later.

Our families spend several summer weeks annually at the cottage and invite our friends and guests to spend the weeks when we are away and to enjoy all the things we do at Windemere cottage.

What is special about this property?
I think among the greatest assets of the cottage is the 360 degree view from the very top of the dune, the sunrises, sunsets over Provincetown, the goings on in the bay: whales, porpoises, ocean sunfish, bluefish bass. ., swimming, boating, walking on the beach, sandbars. . .

We love the solitude, privacy, quiet and cozy ambiance of a truly amazing cottage.

What is special about your town?
The Town of Truro and the center of North Truro have great amenities a short walk away. Walk down Pond Village Road, past the pond where pilgrims found fresh water in 1620 to our local grocery store, Salty Market, selling groceries, package goods, great sandwiches and breakfast pastries. Continue on to The North Truro Museum and the historic Highland Lighthouse over looking the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the library, chocolate factory, vineyard, post office and bank.
