From the moment we drove down the driveway, we already felt at home. The level of privacy was perfect for us, as this home is located in a classic island residential neighborhood, surrounded by trees and set back from the main road. We were only a few minutes' walk to the bike path, perfect for families, and right off the main road, making navigating the island a breeze. A few minutes' bike ride, or a bit longer walk, will bring you to Sengi Pond for kayaking. A few more minutes away is the beautiful Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the Massachusetts Audubon Society, where you have glorious photo opportunities along stunning nature trails. State Beach, a mile or two away, is incredible at sunrise, not to mention spending the day there.
Beautiful, Well-Appointed Home
Quite simply, we had absolutely everything we needed and the cleaning staff is obsessively neat, as the house is spotless, as well as beautifully decorated.
From a lobster pot that easily doubled for corn, to coffee machines, to cocktail glasses...we needed nothing in the kitchen but food, and the frequent farmer's markets helped to take care of that. We often had dinner guests, and we had plenty of space to accommodate a group, as the open floor plan lends itself to entertaining.
The living room feels like home, the couches are comfortable and the music was constantly playing through the house sound system (when we were home). Off of the LR, the screened-in-porch is wonderful for morning coffee and afternoon tea, as well as a cozy reading spot on a rainy day.
The front porch is spacious and offers plenty of seating for a game of cards or an afternoon glass of wine, or both. The side and front yards are suited equally well for Can Jam, bocce, and badminton, and we proved it, but the back deck is unreal. Outdoor dinners, cocktails, snacks, relaxing in the hammock, or unwinding in the hot tub...we did it all, every single day.
The bedrooms are all well furnished, with ample storage, hangers in the closets, circulating window fans, and incredibly comfortable beds. While we tenants do provide our own linens, the pillows and mattresses appear to be brand new, and the quilts are lovely.
Dan provided all necessary information well before our visit to the Vineyard and was gracious and accommodating with any questions we had along the way. He provides, at the home, pertinent local information, especially the fishing and shellfishing rules, as well as any contact information we could need, including the local caretaker's. Dan made this vacation easy and worry-free, providing us the comfort we needed to rent directly through this site, and we are grateful.
We stayed in this wonderful home for two weeks and we KNOW we will be coming back! show more show less
