Description

This charming antique house was originally an 1820 two room schoolhouse that has been added onto and modernized over the years. People playing tennis, pickleball, basketball, board games or simply reading in a quiet corner. Using the paddle board on the spring fed waters of Crystal Lake and taking in the beautiful scenery and lake homes. Taking a dip in Crystal Lake on the way home from a day at the beach. There's something for everyone in this house!

Park like grounds allow for some great hide and seek games while the rest of the gang relaxes on the back patio. Mature gardens offer something in bloom from spring to fall. Beauty and nature abound! You'll see why we call it the ''The Good Life''!

Partial view of Pilgrim Lake across the street. Most of the homes on the street are also antique Cape Cod homes with immaculate gardens. There is nature and beauty all around!

Use of beach chairs, toys, beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards , tennis and pickleball raquets and paddle board. Central A/C in main house with A/C window unit in guest quarters. Extra parking behind the guest cottage. Three flat screen TVs plus wireless high speed internet.

The home has a large country kitchen, a living room, card/game (or use room as back up eating) room, master bedroom, master bath and laundry on the first floor. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms (a full, a full, and 2 twin beds), a full bath plus a common area with a flat screen TV and full-sized futon.

A separate building/Guest quarters provides a very spacious room with cathedral ceilings, a king sized bed, and a full bathroom with large bath/jacuzzi. Outdoor shower facilities are located next to the cottage. You can also use a single sized mattress on the floor if desired. There is central A/C in the main house with an A/C window unit in the guest quarters and three flat screen TVs plus wireless high speed internet.

It's just a 5 minute walk to the spring fed waters of Crystal Lake, or a 5 minute walk/30 second drive to a saltwater pond that has a public town landing and leads to Pleasant Bay, or just kayak on “The River”. 2-3 minute drive to Pilgrim Lake. 5-7 minute drive to Nauset or Skaket Beach.

Use of beach chairs, toys, beach towels and paddle board (11'4'). Expansive back yard allows for extra parking for 2 more cars behind the guest cottage.

    Magical!

This was a vacation dream come true! The house and cabana house were spacious, warm, and welcoming for our family of eight adults and two small children, and the grounds were so beautiful. We felt like we had a private compound for the week….playing games on the lawn, enjoying our own tennis/ pickleball court, cooking and eating together in the huge kitchen filled with sunlight, putting together a puzzle in the extra "dining room" space, and more. The location of the house was fantastic! We walked to Crystal Lake and had a blast swimming in the beautiful water with tubes and noodles provided by the owner, building sandcastles, and sitting under the shade of trees daydreaming! We were minutes away from Nauset Beach, Skaket Beach, downtown Orleans, the Cape Cod Bike Trail, and ice cream!! The owner was a delight to work with. I'm lobbying my family to return next summer! show more show less

    Wonderful house

Everything was perfect. The house was super clean and very well equipped, even chairs and towels for the beach were available. It is situated 300m from the small beach of a pond. A paddle board is available. The kitchen has everything you need. It is spacious. A tennis court is also available: very nice to get moving before you go rest at the beach. Many beaches are very close, event the National Seashore beaches (with a 60$UD permit for the season instead of 25$ per day). Even the CCRT is close, 3km. Orleans is near everything, beaches in the bay, beaches on the open sea, midway betwwen Hyannis and Provincetown. We strongly recommanded Sarah's house and will certainly go back. And Sarah answered all opf our questions very quickly. show more show less

    Perfect for Creating Memories

Staying at Sarah's home was the perfect setting to create memories for a multi-generational family reunion across the street from our parent's family home. Centrally located and close to beaches and ponds, Sarah's house is clean, spacious and comfortably accommodated 8 adults and 2 children. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained with a tennis court and a shed full of beach chairs, floats, games and toys. The large kitchen, living room and outdoor patio were the gathering spots for meaningful conversations, drinks, card games and lots of laughs. We all had a wonderful time and will remember this vacation for years to come. show more show less

    Family Visit

My family had an amazing trip to Cape Cod and this house was perfect! The house was exactly what was showcased online and we were so happy when we first arrived and walked around the house / property. There were plenty of beds to fit us all comfortably, and we got tons of use out of the tennis court and basketball hoop, as that was also a big reason for choosing this house.

The walk to Crystal Lake down the road was also perfect, since there were a lot of shark warnings at the beach we were happy to have a great alternative place to swim and relax. The house was also in a great location in general, with short drives to downtown Chatham and other landmarks.

Sarah was also easily available to contact if we ended up having any quick questions during our stay. I can't thank her enough for letting us stay at her amazing home and we would definitely recommend this place to others and would love to stay here again for future trips!

    Fantastic Cape House in Orleans

My extended family has stayed at this charming, traditional Cape house twice now. We love it! As stated, you can walk to Crystal Lake, which has a beach and shade. It is perfect for small ones or a rinse-off after a day at the ocean. Close by is a tidal pond that leads out to the Bay, and is great for kayaking. Ocean and bay beaches are only 5-10 minutes drive. The house worked well for our family of 8 adults and 4 children/babies. The new, modern kitchen is huge and a bit separate, so it was the gathering spot, allowing for people sleeping in or napping. There is a lovely detached cottage in the back for a couple/family that likes their own space. The patio and additional picnic table were great for outside dining. The tennis court/basketball court is a plus: the adults played tennis and the kids could run around and play basketball. I highly recommend staying here! show more show less

    Great week in Orleans!

I feel so fortunate to have found this house! We spent a week here with a family group of 7 with ages ranging from 19-83, and this house and property met everyone's needs, which was no small feat. Everyone had their own space while still being able to stay together, which was perfect for us.

The young adults had their own space upstairs including their own bathroom, and small family room w/a very nice flat screen TV where they could access any movie/show they could want. The master bedroom and bath were just lovely and by far the nicest space we have had after renting on the cape for the last 20 years. The huge kitchen and multiple eating areas (inside and out) was ideal for large family dinners and we spent quite a bit of time at the huge table that accommodated everyone for games, cards, as well as meals.

My parents loved having their own space in the adorable cottage-truly a unique feature of this property. The tennis court/basketball net was such a bonus, especially since our family loves to play tennis, and provided hours of entertainment. While we bring a lot of our own beach stuff with us, it was so nice to have access to beach chairs and towels, extra tennis rackets, etc., in the well stocked (and very organized) shed. We have always stayed in Brewster, but really enjoyed the proximity to Nauset Beach, as well as the many restaurants, shops, grocery store, etc. in Orleans.

Sarah, the homeowner, was flexible, very easy to work with and always responsive in answering any questions. We hope to return to stay in this home next summer!

    Special, Special Home

I owe Sarah and her family this review. I stayed at this house last year and such a wonderful time and experience. I had told her that I would write a review, but got back to work and real life and never got to it. But I enjoyed the house so much, that as i am preparing for this summer on the cape - I felt obligated to write this. Throughout the booking process Sarah was responsive and patient. While we were at the home she was also easy to communicate with

We stayed at the home with 4 families and 11 total people. (6 adults and 5 kids) There was more than enough room for all of us, and always something to do.

The kids enjoyed playing basketball and tennis on the nearby court. They enjoyed hanging out in the den together - and had all the room to sleep and enjoy their time in the living room upstairs and the room with two twin beds.

We adults spent most of our time in the separate kitchen. It was great to be able to hang there early or late - and not disturb anyone who was sleeping. We are a group that LOVES to cook and grill - and in that regard Sarah's home has everything you need in terms of pots and pans. We enjoyed many meals, cocktails, and good times in the kitchen. It was also a space that all of the adults and kids could be in relatively comfortably and have good times together.

The house was also stocked well in terms of beach supplies and games: bodyboards, floats, beach chairs, umbrellas -- you name it they had it in the shed. And don't forget the Paddleboard. It was heavy, but we took it down to Crystal lake several times and enjoyed it.

The guest house in the back was perfect for one of our couples to stay in and get a little more privacy. The two couples we had alternated using it over the two weeks we were there.

Oh did I mention Crystal lake? Crystal lake is our favorite pond on the cape. We love how accessible it is -- and even at its busiest - is never too bad. The water is clear and easy for kids to swim and play for hours. You can walk to the lake in about 10 minutes or take a 2 minute drive down Monument Rd.

Overall the house is close to everything in town, and allowed us to get further to the outer cape - or just all around Orleans.

This year we're coming with a smaller crew-- so couldn't afford the home -- but if we came back with the same group of 10+ people we would definitely come back!

Thanks Sarah and apologies for the late review

    Beautiful House!

We had a wonderful time. The property is centrally located. The Lake is in walking distance.
We enjoyed the tennis court. The house has everything you would need. The big kitchen allowed all 9 of us to enjoy meals when we weren't eating outdoors on the patio.
We look forward to returning next year. I would recommend this house.

    Amazing Home

We enjoyed a perfect 3-week stay at Sarah's house on Monument Road. The house itself is very interesting -- it has all the character an charm of an old home with modern/updated amenities where you would want them (kitchen/master suite/guest cottage). The surrounding sprawling property is gorgeous, with ample patio/lawn space and a tennis court that kept us all entertained (even on cloudy days). The house was well-stocked with an array of beach equipment that made our stay that much easier. Town and the beach were only short drives away -- this is really a perfect rental. We loved our stay and hope to return next year! show more show less

We are an American/Swedish family living in Germany and knew instantly that this would be the perfect summer house for us with 3 kids and rotating guests. We loved the antique charm and layout of the house, and of course the tennis court! Kids running in and out of the house, people playing tennis, board games or simply reading in a quiet corner. There's something for everyone in this house!

What is special about this property?
Tennis in the late afternoon, after the beach, then drinks on the patio. The option in early evening for swimming at Crystal Lake while the sun is setting...Sitting on the patio at night, tiki flames aglow and counting the shooting stars....Monday night band concerts at Nauset beach...Sitting on the hill watching the Cape Cod baseball league...spending the day at either Nauset or Skaket beach...

What is special about your town?
We rented in Orleans in 2006 and fell in love with the town. The town is 'Americana' at its best. Traditional main street with excellent shopping, nice library, superb cafes and restaurants. Plus water everywhere- lakes, inlets, bayside, oceanside- all within minutes of each other!
