Description

Best for a couple, this small, 400 sq. ft., second floor studio is one big room plus separate shower stall bath, on the second floor. The studio does not have a full kitchen, lacking only a stove. Full refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, hot plate, electric fry pan, and access to the ground-level Weber gas grill makes preparing summer meals a breeze!

The second-floor deck overlooks a yard/garden space and the woods that surround this private, quiet rental. The National Seashore beach at Longnook is 2 miles by car, less to walk through the woods on Nat'l Seashore paths. Corn Hill Beach, on the Bay, is a little more than two miles by car. Truro also has ponds for the freshwater babies. Provincetown is 10 miles by car.

Washer and dryer for your personal laundry by arrangement with the host in the main house. Cleaning is included as we want you to have a relaxing vacation.

Paradise in the trees

When we arrived at the destination, using the excellent directions provided, we were pleasantly surprised. It's even more charming than the pictures show. We were greeted promptly by Ryan, the caretaker who lives next door, who made sure we had his contact numbers and that we knew we could contact him anytime if we had a question or problem.

The Treehouse is private and quiet with pretty flowers all around. The inside space is well laid out and has everything you need to make this home for as long as you are lucky enough to stay. It was clean, and the linens and bed was comfortable. The nights are dark, quiet and cool.In the morning you wake to the sounds of chirping birds. We will definitely return. show more show less

Always Perfect

My boyfriend and I like to spend a week on Cape Cod each summer. We have stayed here 3 times and each time has been fantastic! It is clean, close to the beach, and the perfect space to relax and enjoy. We love it and would recommend it to anyone!

Truro studio

Charming and cozy, nestled in the woods of Truro. I've been returning to what I refer to as "my little treehouse" for probably 15 years now. Owners are friendly and helpful, and they respect your privacy. When stressed out in my daily life in the city, I think of this tranquil place and imagine sitting on the deck with my morning coffee and listening to the birds. This is truly "a find."

Cape Cod at its best!

We love this place! It has become a yearly tradition for 5+ years. We keep taking additional weeks, even experimenting with the early and late season, which provides a total different feeling for the cape. This charming wooded-panel studio is a perfect escape from the urban frenzies (best suited for a couple or a single person). The studio is nestled atop a barn in the National Seashore. There is small deck (providing some shade during the hot summers months), perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee or a chilled glass of Rose, or if you’re ambitious, you can do some catching up on emails, as WIFI is provided.

The kitchen is limited, there is no stove or oven, but we find that to be a positive. So many activities to enjoy. We love running in the forest and arriving on the top of the cliff between the two public beaches (Longnook & Balston beach are an easy drive away as well - beach sticker required) and taking long walks on the beach. There are many restaurants nearby that we enjoy going to: Blackfish, Mac’s Shack, Moby Dick's, Truro Vineyard, and the charming little store, Jams in Truro Center (an easy morning bike ride for a croissant and cup of coffee).

We also have discovered a little shopping plaza nearby on route 6, where we buy fresh fish and local farm products for grilling on the gas grill, back at the house. Even in the rain the place has a cozy feel. Cloudy or sunny, P-town is always worth the trip for fun, food and bike rides through Race Point and the beaches. Our hosts are very pleasant and accommodating, providing, linens and plenty of bath towels and TP. The kitchen is usually stocked with paper towels, foil, plastic wrap, coffee filters, etc... We usually bring some containers and plastics bags for taking lunch to the beach.

The only down side to writing this review is that we want the place for ourselves!

"After great anticipation, our vacation in this perfectly simple studio apartment was simply perfect. We were 2 adults and 1 dog visiting for a week in late August. In advance of our stay Diane was very helpful and communicative, and during our stay Ryan was welcoming, accessible very responsive. This is a perfect spot for anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing getaway--like the listing suggests, the accommodations are simple but they were all that we needed in order to fully enjoy a week in Truro. We did plenty of cooking, relaxing, and visiting each of Truro's beautiful beaches. (This apartment is only a 10 minute bike ride away from one of the most gorgeous beaches on all of Cape Cod.) The location is easily accessible and a short drive to all the attractions of the Outer Cape but the studio is secluded enought that we never felt like we were in the middle of a tourist destination. We're hoping to visit again next summer!"

"For the third straight year my wife and I along with our loyal Cocker Spaniel Clowie spent two weeks in the solitude of the Truro studio. Nestled in the seclusion of the Truro wilderness, this quaint studio has everything to offer our active lifestyle while providing our family the opportunity to spend peaceful nights with all the comforts of home. The availability of WiFi also provides us with the opportunity to (briefly) catch up with the outside world. We love it!!!" show more show less

"I have been going to Cape Cod for years and I must say this was the best place we have stayed so far. It was very clean, decorated nicely, and the owners (then managers, Melenie and Jay) were so helpful. I absolutely look forward to returning in the future."

"Beautiful but not great for those with kids/dogs"
"The property is beautiful, adequately equipped inside, and very much as pictured, though you can't tell from the photos how close the main house and the neighbors are to the studio. (Very close) I expected to be more separate from neighbors. Diane, the owner, was friendly and replied promptly to emails, and the tenants of the main house were on hand in Truro to answer questions. Ballston Beach is 1.5 miles away. We did not go to Long Nook Beach but the main house tenant told us it was the same distance away from the studio. We had friends (a couple with 2 small children) decide to come with us for a couple of nights at the last minute and had our (new) 8 month old puppy with us, so we were not the quietest renters one might hope for, though we tried very hard to be respectful and follow all house rules. But because the studio is right next to the main house and to a very close neighbor, we did not feel comfortable using the grill or yard for fear of disturbing the neighbors, and overall worried a lot that the kids and dogs were being a nuisance. We ended up paying for doggie daycare in Provincetown the last two days of our trip (an unexpected expense) to be sure we were not being a problem. If you are looking for seclusion (i.e. no one close by) have small children or dogs that aren't very quiet, this is probably not the place for you."

Landlord response: My listing specifies "4 maximum, best for 2 with occasional guests." This was a party of 3 adults and 3 children, plus a puppy! No, the studio is not suitable for that kind of a group. They should find a larger, more secluded, (and probably more expensive) rental in the future.

NOTE: I have reduced my maximum occupancy to 3 although I've had some families larger than that who were not a problem.

I came to Truro in 1971 as the new owner of Corn Hill Cottages on Cape Cod Bay, and immediately felt at home. For many years I managed the rentals of the cottage colony with mostly repeat vacationers, many of whom became friends and more than a few who now own homes in Truro or other towns on Cape Cod. I've since been in the property management business, construction, and real estate sales, so I have a fairly good idea of what vacationing guests might be looking for.

What is special about this property?
This property was my ''primary residence'' until I moved to New Mexico in 2012 to be near family and to experience the Southwest. My life partner (an architect) and I designed and built our Truro home on an acre in the woods, on the ocean side of Truro. The addition of the barn building with studio above, enabled us to have a summer retreat for family members, and eventually to share with paying guests. It is hard to imagine an environment more conducive to a relaxing life style or vacation.

What is special about your town?
Truro is certainly special. It is one of the smallest (population) towns in Massachusetts, with 70% of the land area within the National Seashore. In 15 minutes one can be in Provincetown but many people don't venture further than the wonderful National Seashore ocean beaches, the Truro Town beaches on the Bayside, or the many ponds in both Truro and Wellfleet. You should stay at least a week as you'll need to go on a whale watch, a dune tour, sample the beverages at the Winery, bicycle the back roads to Wellfleet--okay, there is too much to do, so hang out on the deck and read a good book and watch the birds.
