Description

Description

This wonderful, open and light filled 3 bedroom, one and a half bath home is fully equipped and has a lovely, private fenced in yard and an enclosed outdoor shower.

The bedrooms are upstairs with a full bath in between the master bedroom (king size bed) and the other two bedrooms (one bedroom has 2 twin beds that can either be moved together to make a king or can be separated, while the third bedroom has 2 twin beds). Downstairs there are two living areas; one more formal with a fireplace, one more casual with a gas fire stove. Off of the new kitchen there is an eating area with a dining table that seats eight as well as a sun room with cathedral ceilings that opens onto the patio area outside with charcoal grill. The half bath and laundry room is right off the kitchen with energy efficient washer and dryer.

The living areas downstairs all have hardwood floors with the exception of the kitchen which has tile. The living room has a queen size sofa couch. The kitchen has Corian counter tops, a convection oven, gas stove, oversize refrigerator and Asko dishwasher. There are fans in every room and three window units; one in the master bedroom, one in the second bedroom and one downstairs that cools the entire floor. The enclosed, private back yard is perfect to play and relax in, and the patio area perfect for grilling and outdoor eating. There is ample off street parking in the private driveway.

There are four bikes in the garage along with beach chairs and two kayaks that are all at your disposal while you are renting. Please bring your own bike lock however.

The property is 7/10ths of a mile both to town and to the fishing pier. It is just over a mile to the popular Oyster Pond that has parking, restrooms and showers, and 2 miles to the stunning Light House Beach. It is also just over a mile to White's Pond, a fresh water pond with parking. It is also close to Eldridge Square where you can watch the popular Chatham A's play base ball in the evening! It is a 15-20 minute walk to the Kate Gould Park in downtown Chatham where every Friday night in July and August, the volunteer 35 piece Chatham Band Concert plays in the park; a tradition since the 1930's!

In consideration of these uncertain and unprecedented circumstances we all are faced with, cancellations will now be accepted on bookings made up to four weeks in advance of the rental start date with money fully refunded. Cancellations made up to two weeks prior to the rental start date will be refunded 75% and cancellations made one week prior will be refunded 50%. I am hopeful that this added flexibility in policy will enable you to make the best decision for you and your family.

Non refundable cleaning fee of $200 & pet fee $40/$75. $500 security deposit/$250 pet deposit.

This is a Saturday to Saturday rental with check in time at 3pm and check out at 10am the following Saturday.

    Great spacious home!

Great home for family! Home is spacious with large kitchen and a patio to relax on. Large yard is fenced in and would be perfect for dogs (and small kids!). Neighborhood is quiet and perfect for morning and evening strolls. Overall, a great home in the heart of the cape for summer and off season relaxation.

Thank you so much for the lovely feed back Sarah!! You were an absolutely fabulous and thoughtful tenant and will always be welcome in my home. I so appreciated your on-line expertise in ordering that part that I had only recently found out wasn't working properly! It was a pleasure getting to know you a bit through this process and I wish you the very best in everything. Enjoy the tail end of summer. And thank you also for recognizing how helpful reviews are for home owners and for offering to write one for my home. You are a 5+ star tenant!!show moreshow less

    A comfortable, pleasant stay

My husband and I and our adult kids had a wonderful time here. The house is clean and comfy and in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The location is terrific—we walked to the 4th of July parade in downtown Chatham, which was so nice instead of dealing with traffic. Loved the fenced-in yard for our dog. Catherine was so pleasant to deal with; she was very attentive and welcoming (even to our dog!), responding to all questions immediately. A great week!

    Perfect pandemic getaway!

My teenagers, dogs and I loved having Catherine's house as a well-priced, clean, safe, roomy Cape escape. The backyard is private and spacious. The kitchen is modern and well stocked. The gas fireplace is so cozy and perfect for chilly days. Having kayaks and bikes at our disposal was a bonus! Catherine was very responsive, left detailed directions and was very welcoming. Chatham is a truly special town and we hope to return!

    Great stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was very spacious and well appointed...we had everything we needed to host a family dinner. The kitchen was well stocked and provided plenty of space for hosting. The fenced yard was a big plus for our dogs and the neighborhood was perfect for walking. A great location, convenient to downtown and the pier.

Another great stay on the Cape

We really enjoyed staying at Catherine's home in Chatham. She was great to work with and super responsive. She even let us stay an extra day over Labor Day weekend. The house is great and has a nice backyard which our daughter and dog both enjoyed. It is in a quiet location, yet close to everything. We'll stay again.

Strange unpleasant odor in upstairs bedrooms

This home had a strange, unpleasant odor in the upstairs where the bedrooms are. It was so bad that my adult daughter went home rather than stay here.

This is not a rental for someone who likes to cook on vacation. The oven did not work for the entire two weeks of my stay. The owner told me to use the toaster oven instead. Also the kitchen pots and pans are very old, badly pitted and in need replacement..

The house is misrepresented as having two king beds. It has one king bed and four twins. The location was good and the neighborhood was quiet. show more show less

Mark, I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our home, but I too was disappointed. I have never had a tenant leave my home in such utter chaos and with damage. I suspect you will always find “problems” when renting homes and I imagine never be able to rent the same home twice based on my experience with your stay in my home.

Regarding the oven, unfortunately, because you didn’t confirm that the oven wasn’t working until the end of your first week of renting, it was difficult to find someone to fix it on short notice. I did encourage you to use the large toaster oven, the stove, and the gas grill, and I gave you a partial refund for not having a working oven.

I am perplexed about your mention of an odor upstairs as I haven’t had any complaints from other guests. The Cape can be very humid and the upstairs is carpeted, so it could have been that.

As to the bed situation, I apologize if that was upsetting to you. I will make it clearer on my listing and when I speak to prospective guests that the twins in the second bedroom push together to make a king bed. Most guests like the flexibility of having accommodations for different types of sleeping arrangements.

    Nice vacation

Catherine's home is spacious and comfortable. Lots of room to spread out and get some private time. The fenced in backyard was a true bonus for our dog. Catherine made us feel welcome and was always available to answer our questions. The home is in a lovely neighborhood.

    Home away from home!

We had a lovely stay. The home had plenty of space and light. We really enjoyed the backyard and all the lovely flowers. The neighbor always waved to us when we would return and that made it feel like a home away from home. This was our first vacation with our dog, and she enjoyed the yard as much as we did.

This home offers everything you could want for a getaway with family and friends and I could not have picked a better vacation spot. There is so much warmth and the rooms are filled with light. The kitchen is fabulous with top of the line appliances. Love the gas fireplace, the sunroom with the palladium window. Very nicely furnished. The bedrooms are large and have great closet space. The yard was great for our pups to romp free since it is fenced. Close to everything in Chatham but nestled in a charming neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again. The homeowner is very caring and accomodating too. Thank you so much for our special time. show more show less

I have been renting my home out to Cape vacationers for 24 years now. I love knowing my house will provide a happy, comfortable environment for families who are drawn to and love the Cape. Being a dog owner and lover myself, I know that the option I provide in allowing man's best friend to accompany families on vacations (which should be the happiest and most stress free of times. Not being able to bring your dog with you creates stress and anxiety) is a meaningful bonus to many of those who have stayed in my home.
This house is indeed my home though and is very special to me. Sharing my home has been a mutual blessing (for the most part!). I moved back to the States and into this house in 2001 when I retired from dancing with both the Stuttgart Ballet and The Birmingham Royal Ballet.

What is special about this property?
I feel like my house is filled with light and sense of open space. The outdoors is brought in through multiple windows and the landscaping that surrounds the house. There is feeling of calm and comfort, and for the eyes, soothing colors throughout the house. Friends, family and renters alike have remarked on this special feel this house provides over the past 2 decades.
The backyard is spacious and very private. The patio makes a nice spot to sit outside in the morning with coffee or grill in the evening.
Its location is also often commented on. It is in a quiet, low key neighborhood yet is so close to town, beaches and the Eldridge Field where the Chatham A's lay in the summer. The Chatham Village Market is less than a mile away.

What is special about your town?
Chatham is a jewel. The zoning laws are very strict so all commercial properties and signs must be approved in design which in turn preserves the quaintness and aesthetic of the town. It is very appealing to the eyes and to the heart! Multiple shops, restaurants, ice cream stands and hotels, complete with even a park in the center upon which sits a band stand. And every Friday night there is a band concert where the surrounding lawns will be covered in colorful blankets and littered with happy families, holding balloons and glow sticks and smiling and rocking in rhythm as the songs are played.
Water surrounds us on every side and there are freshwater lakes that are not only swimmable but warmer than the Atlantic ocean for those whose swimming tastes are not as bold! I think our beaches are some of the most beautiful and walkable on the Cape. The seals are an amusing sight to look for as well.
