Description

The stars at night are amazing as are the birds in the morning! Enjoy your coffee on the deck before checking the tide clock on the wall and going to Pilgrim Springs Conservation area (500 feet away) for a short hike to the expansive tidal marsh. Afterward, pack up lunch and beach chairs (provided) and head to the bay beach down the street, or jump in the car and drive to the ocean ~ 2 miles away. Rinse off in the private outdoor shower and have cocktails while gas grilling on the deck!

This cozy cottage is perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples. The kitchen, albeit small, is fully stocked (including lobster pot and crackers!), coffee maker, stove and microwave. There is an indoor dining table and chairs for 4 as well as outdoor dining. There are hardwood floors, skylights, and vaulted ceilings. The indoor full bathroom has a shower (sorry, no bathtub), board games, wifi and TV with access to your Netflix, or other subscription services. If you must combine work with vacation, the three season room provides a separate workspace if needed.

This cottage is located in Pilgrim Acres - a quiet community of 7 cottages, and is nicely situated on a dirt road set away from the main road and the other cottages. It is a 5 minute walk to Chipman's cove where you can launch kayaks and less than a mile walk to beautiful Baker bay beach. Wellfleet center is a more ambitious walk but still less than an hour, and the bike path is accessible across Rt. 6 and within a mile from the cottage. The Wellfleet Drive-in/Flea Market, and the National Seashore are about 4 miles by car, Orleans Rotary is 10 miles and Provincetown is 15. Ask us about great places to explore on Cape Cod!

We acknowledge the Nauset and Wôpanâak people on whose traditional land we gather in Wellfleet. We also acknowledge all Indigenous people of Cape Cod.

During the summer, this is a Sunday to Sunday rental. If you have a bigger group or have friends/family you would like to be close by-but not under the same roof, ask me about the sweet spot (2BR 1BA) next door.

The cottage is very clean and cute. If you like to have a good time and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family on a warm summer night.....this cottage is not for you.The cottages are all in a cluster and you can hear EVERYTHING with in the area and everyone can hear you. If you like a very quiet place, you'll fit right in. Anyone who likes to enjoy a summer night outside with music and drinks will be reported to the landlord.

Thanks for noting that our cottage is very clean, our awesome cleaning crew works hard to keep it very clean for all guests. And I'm glad the listing was accurate. You are absolutely correct that loud music and loud conversation late into the night are not the norm in our neighborhood. We love our cottage community and it means the world to us that we respect our neighbors.

    Cozy comfort @ Little Dipper

We had a lovely stay at Little Dipper. It was cozy for four of us, but we easily made it work. The cottage is well stocked and equipped (including a great gas grill), super clean, and quiet. We loved being so close to Indian Neck. Parking was convenient. And Maureen was thoughtful and responsive and a delight to work with. Highly recommend it for a small family group.

    Great spot

This was a super place for one to two people to stay. The outdoor area in back was private and sweet, and I adored the outdoor shower. Even though the cottage is part of a group of cottages, it was quite and felt private. I would (and plan to) stay here again!

    Perfect Beach Get Away

We rented the Little Dipper the last week in June after a truly exhausting school year! The cottage is bright, clean, and in a great location for accessing the National Seashore beaches, Provincetown, Orleans, and the Mid Cape. There are also many restaurants and activities nearby.

The cottage is located in a very peaceful and quiet spot and really provided all that was needed for a fantastic week away. There are other cottages within close proximity to the Little Dipper, but you would never know that. It was that quiet and peaceful. We did not choose to cook dinner here as we dined out each night, but the kitchen is well stocked for doing so if that is your choice. The beds were comfortable, and the ceiling fans made the cottage feel very comfortable after a hot day at the beach. Air conditioners in the bedrooms are capable of cooling off the entire cottage when needed as well.

I would most definitely choose to stay here again as this cottage provided everything needed for a great vacation. Maureen was a pleasure to work with and was very responsive to questions. We would definitely stay here again.

    Do it

This place is everything you are looking for in vacation. It is cozy, cute, it has enough space, kitchen is full of stuff you need. It is close to beach, beautiful morning walks, amazing porch in shadow with bbq for evening after long day at the beach. I was there last year with my family, and my 1yo child. We are coming this year again. After you come here, trust me, you'll be back. Plus, owner is really friendly, helpful and there if you need anything.

    I can't wait!

    Hidden Gem!

What a beautiful little cabin, where do I even begin...It's set just about a minute off of route six but you seriously can't hear ANY noise from the highway, just an incredible symphony of birds. The cabin is clearly set up with care and attention to detail from the clean grill, multiple AC units, 4 ceiling fans, functional fire place, coolers, beach umbrellas, to the very tasteful decor and the fact that Maureen was extremely responsive to any questions we had.

The back deck is magical. It's cozy and pretty private considering there are other cottages around. It feels like an enchanted forest with the vines covering all the trees (which provide the perfect amount of shade). We stayed there for 3 nights and it was myself, my wife, 2 year old, brother, and his fiance and we plan on returning. We have stayed at many places around the Cape and this was easily one of our favorites, especially for a quick getaway. show more show less

    Fantastic!

My friend and I spent a wonderful week at Maureen's beautiful cottage!

It is well laid out with 2 bedrooms, is beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated, and in a convenient spot to Wellfleet and area beaches.

I would highly recommend it and plan on returning!

    Exception Propery and Location

CLEAN - CLEAN - CLEAN! My husband and I stayed at "The Little Dipper" for the Summer of 2021. This was such a special experience for us. The cottage is a quintessential Cape Cod. The cottage has 2 sun filled bedrooms, living room with fireplace, eating area and a well equipped kitchen. In the evening we BBQ'd on the Weber grill and enjoyed our dinner on the private deck. In inclement weather, we were able to share our dinner in the 3 season room that abuts the deck. Although the house has a full bathroom with a shower, we almost always chose to shower in the private outdoor shower under the stars.

What made this property stand out more than others we viewed was the location near to Indian Neck Beach and Pilgrim Springs Conservation area where you can walk/hike on over 60 acres. Maureen was an exceptional host. I would not hesitate to recommend this property.

    Perfect getaway!

We came to the Cape for a girls get-a-way before summer started. 3 of us stayed for 2 nights. The cottage was so sweet and cozy. We had everything we needed and loved waking up for sunrise at the beautiful nearby beaches and then later enjoying sunset on the bay.

The beds were all comfy... and the pullout couch was so comfortable that I have tried to find the same one for my home... that was a first for me.

The cottage is on a very quiet road just a few seconds off route 6. Waking up to the songbirds was really amazing, and the outdoor shower was absolutely fantastic.

The cottage is small, but not overcrowded at all. The little porch and deck were great for reading and relaxing.

Maureen was a great host, and we will absolutely be back. We're talking about making this an annual trip!

I have been visiting Cape Cod and my family has rented cottages every single summer since I was a small child, and for years, my parents rented the same cottage year after year. My now grown children have been coming with me ever since they were born, and we have rented cottages similar to The Little Dipper every year. Just recently we finally had the opportunity to purchase a cottage and found this charmer. Now we look forward to sharing this little slice of heaven with others when we can't be there to enjoy it ourselves. We hope you love it as much as we do and you make this your summer spot year after year!

What is special about this property?
The thing I love best about the cottage is the plethora of birds in the trees around the property. I love having coffee surrounded by the lovely sounds they make. My kids love stargazing while sitting on the deck--on a clear night you can see a million stars in the sky. The cottage is bright in the living, dining and kitchen areas, and the bedrooms are on the back side and not nearly as bright -- great for sleeping in. While it has a sofa sleeper for 2 more people, the space is small and most comfortable for 4. It has everything we need when we stay, and we hope that you enjoy your visit. Please let us know if you think we missed anything!

What is special about your town?
Wellfleet has the best beaches on Cape Cod! It is much less crowded than other parts of the Cape, and yet has just about everything you need. The drive-in and flee market have always been a favorite of my family, and on rainy days the Cinema comes in handy. The restaurants are great and in the past few years, some new additions have expanded on the older classics that have been around--and still deliver great food. The Indian Neck neighborhood is unique in that there are many places to get to without getting in the car - spectacular hikes, biking, gorgeous beaches and interesting kayaking spots. In fact, you can kayak over to Mac's on the Pier pretty easily, and there is a way to walk to town that does not require going on Route 6, which is always a plus. We love this particular area of Wellfleet and hope that you do too!
