Charming Beach Cottage

I have been coming to this enclave for more than 50 years, and I played on the glorious beach here at the age of six. My husband & I honeymooned in this cottage 35 years ago, & have watched our children grow up here, reveling in the same fun I had a generation earlier. There simply is nowhere else I'd rather go to relax. As you drive down the little sandy lane, you enter a perfect, private world--a beautiful early-twentieth-century cottage with everything a vacationer needs--a deck with a view of the bay, a fireplace, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a hot shower under the stars.

Birds & wildlife surround the cottage, and a skip down the sandy path gets you to the beach--great swimming at high tide & endless exploring at low tide, along with plenty of room for kite-flying, frisbee, and just running on the sand. This is a dream of a place. show more show less

My daughter and I have been coming to Beechnut for over 25 years. It is a special, idyllic spot for us. Beechnut is a little cabin set among just a few other somewhat larger ones on a very special several-acre area of land owned by several generations of extended family members. The families care deeply about this area and have kept it comparatively undeveloped and quiet. My daughter and I treasure our time at Beechnut. We love sitting on the front porch, drinking our coffee, looking out at the bay, walking on the beach, going down to watch the sunset, and reading in front of the fire. The Bay beach is never crowded and it's perfect for young children and swimmers. If you like very upscale 4-star hotels, this is not your place. If you like being close to nature, being able to walk out your front door and take a swim or a watch spectacular sunset, you will be in heaven. show more show less

My spouse and I go to the cottage each year and have done so for the last 10 to 15 years. A simple cottage in a beautiful location, we find this a most relaxing time which we carefully protect. A fabulous outdoor shower, private deck at the back where we enjoy morning coffee, and a deck at the front looking down to the bay. We love it and, each year, look forward to going. (The owner is thoughtful and considerate to make sure that the people that she rents to have an enjoyable stay.)
