Description

- The little White House by the Sea -
This lovely, bright Greek Revival home nestles into the dunes on Chipman's Cove and combines yesteryear's charm and simplicity with all modern-day comforts. Breezy and comfortable in the summer, cozy and warm in the off-season. Water views from almost every window in the house, even from your bed pillow you see the water and the sky.

Downstairs: the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom; upstairs three bedrooms. A luxurious, enclosed outside hot/cold shower awaits after the beach or anytime. The house has central heat and two gas fireplaces for ambiance. Each bedroom has an air conditioner as well as the living room.

The large, private yard has lawn areas to play on and has a patio w/gas bbq, outdoor furniture, and is only steps from the water. Bring your kayak and enjoy the short paddle into town or more demanding stretch over to Great Island.

This is a great retreat for families and friends. Unforgettable memories are made here.
Rates: Oct.-May $1800, June $2800 and high season $33920 to $4550/wk. Sept $2800 call for off-season stays (3 day minimum) and rates: 508-246-4494.

Consider a stay in the off-season to experience a slower pace. It's quieter then but still beautiful. The Wellfleet Oyster Fest in mid-October is a popular event and all of September is glorious, too. Guests have stayed for winter holidays, February and April vacations and had a great time.

We are open year-round and look forward to your visit.

Amazing Stay at the White House on the Cove

We stayed at Nick's place recently. Simply put, this home is lovely, charming and historic. The property was amazing. Views of Wellfleet harbor from inside the house are great. Outside they are even more incredible. The owner has done a great job outfitting the home with anything you may need and has also done an great job adding touches to take full advantage of different parts of the property.

The front yard has a nice patio table with chairs to sit at and look at the water. There were also some nice Adirondack chairs and a bench. The side of the property had lounge chairs for relaxing. The backyard had an awesome fire pit with plenty of seating along with another patio table. There was also a cute "secret garden" area that was fun for the toddler that was with us.

An outdoor shower, well equipped kitchen, cozy family room, ample sized bedrooms completed the home. While there was only one bathroom, it's a good size and has a washer and dryer. The owner was extremely accommodating, very responsive to questions and even allowed us an early check-in and late checkout to make the most of the days we were there. We couldn't have asked for better and would absolutely love to return for another visit.

Wonderful rental!

I can't say enough good things about this house! The location is perfect: at the end of a quiet street with access to a very private beach and yet a close drive to all Wellfleet has to offer. Nick is a perfect host and the house is well maintained and equipped with everything you could need. We will be back!

Nick and Elisa, Another three wonderful, restful weeks- our special home away from home- Birdsong, Osprey, Red Fox and the Cape's wonderful, lush gardens and evergreens- all such a marvelous relaxing atmosphere to just sit, walk and enjoy- As the grey home on Cove Road proclaims- "Il dolce far niente" How sweet it is- the sweetness of doing nothing!
See you next year!

Nick and Elisa,

Thank you so much for opening you home to us. We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay-the amazing sunsets (I took many pictures) and dining at the many great local restaurants in Wellfleet. We can't wait to make another trip back!

The home has been in the family since 1930. I began handling rentals for my mother after she went into an assisted living facility.
I was lucky enough to be able to keep the home after her passing and have continued welcoming guests to this special place on Cape Cod. I have lived in Wellfleet full time since I was 20 and started working Summers washing dishes at a restaurant that was called Aesop's Tables since I was 15. After 13 years cooking and managing the restaurant I decided to change careers and went into fine woodworking. I still work in my shop part time but have also added Real Estate Broker and Contractor/property manager to my repertoire.

What is special about this property?
The home and around 30 acres around it was once owned by Captain Lorenzo Dow Baker (locally known as the banana king)
He was the first to import bananas to North America and was the founder of United Fruit Co.) Many indian artifacts have been found in this area where the Wampanoags fished and lived. What I love most about the location is the commanding view of Wellfleet Harbor and the gorgeous sunsets in the Summer. It was built in the dune's lea to protect the home from Winter winds.
In addition to the view, it has a large and private yard. I am confident you will enjoy your stay and the memories will keep you warm all year!
