I treated three girlfriends to a week in this beautiful cottage. We loved the charm and history of this home. The inside was very clean and well appointed with all that we needed. The yard, front and back, was beautiful and had outside tables, chairs, fire pit, bbq, and lots of beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc. The landscaping was well kept up and very pretty. All four of us love to garden, so we notice these things. The weather was in the 70's with very little humidity other than some showers a day or two. There are window air conditioners in each bedroom and the living room, and fans throughout that we used and appreciated.
Our very favorite thing is the very well designed outside shower with hot and cold water! It has wooden fencing that matches the house enclosing it so it really is private. When showering, there is a lovely view of the beautiful tree overhead and you can hear the birds chattering. Two of my friends were newcomers to Cape Cod and they loved their first experience and the beauty and charm. The cottage is near Chatham, the favorite town of my other friend and myself. Also, it's a very short drive to Harwich Port where we took the high speed ferry to Nantucket for the day.
The owner is very easy to communicate with and immediately responsive to any questions. It is obvious she loves her antique cottage and takes excellent care of it. We were happy to get to meet her as we checked out of the cottage. She has a binder and lots of info on both this cottage, barged over from Nantucket Island in the 1800's, and activities on the Cape, along with local amenities and restaurants.
In addition, this cottage has many games and books for children including a set of bunk beds and a crib upstairs. The stairs to go up upstairs are steep, but there is a door downstairs to close off access to the stairs. Parking is off the street on a shell covered parking area behind the cottage. Beaches are nearby, either walkable for 10-15 minutes or a short drive. There is a great screened in back porch with windows, comfy chairs, a tv, overhead fan, games and books, through which one easily accesses the back/side yard and outside shower. The listing and photos are all accurate.
