It's 1 1/2 miles to beautiful Jackknife Beach in Chatham, 2 1/2 miles from Red River Beach in Harwich, and Forest Beach in Chatham. And 1 mile from the 900 acre Punkhorn Park and 2 miles from Thompson's Field in Harwich. The house is walking distance to the popular Four Corners Store. Located at the 4 corners where Harwichport, Chatham, Dennis, and Brewster meet making this your perfect home base to explore the mid and lower cape. Close to beaches, art galleries, shopping, golfing, and many restaurants. There are even go-karts and a trampoline park for the kids a short drive from the house.

The house features an inviting 3-season enclosed porch with comfortable wicker chairs, couch, and dining table for 6. Enjoy your morning coffee in this beautiful, sunny room. It also has a 2nd TV with a DVD player. The bedrooms (12'x11' and 11'x9.5') have very comfortable mattresses: A luxurious king bed with foam mattress and a queen bed with a gel-topped foam mattress, and pillows (Mattresses and pillows are encased in anti-microbial covers). A set of comfortable twin bunk beds are in the bedroom that contains the queen bed.

There is a full bathroom with a tub and shower. And a newly installed on demand hot water heater makes for long & relaxing hot showers. The kitchen includes a full-sized gas stove, a microwave, and a 4 slice - and a 2 slice toaster, a Cuisinart Coffee Maker, a French Press and a coffee bean grinder. There's an adjoining living room with a leather sofa and fabric chairs. Washer and dryer are in the basement for your use. This house has A/C units in both bedrooms and a ceiling fan in the sun room for your total comfort. The original owner of this house built it in a way that it stays very cool inside.

The house also includes an outdoor dining table for 6 and gas grill. The landscaping offers privacy and the beautiful smell of lilacs and rose bushes. I was always on the search for a fresh smelling, non-toxic and clean Cape Cod rental with truly comfortable beds, and.... a fenced-in yard. Now I offer this to you. The fenced-in yard offers total relaxation and safety for those with children or a dog.
There is cable tv and high-speed internet.
Linen service is available locally if desired. Or bring your own towels, sheets, and pillows Blankets and pillows are supplied. There is parking for 2 cars.
The Cape Cod Rail Trail parking area is a short ride from the house.

    Peaceful and Near Everything

    I have not been up to the Cape in years, but this was a great welcome back! Located on a quiet and peaceful road, but close enough to everything. It was a quick drive, or a little longer bike, to Chatham.
    The house was just as described, perfect for what we were looking for. The sunroom was amazing, we spent a bit of time there relaxing. Kim was very responsive and made sure our stay was great!

    Peaceful and Restful Return to Cape Cod 2022

    After 2 years of closed land borders (Can/US) , we returned to the Cape in 2022. The "Cape Retreat" cottage in Harwich, was a new rental, and located in a new area for us - we typically have stayed in the Hyannis and Yarmouth areas.
    The Cottage itself was a delight and provided a quiet and peaceful home base for us. The rental gave us everything we required, and, as the saying goes, it was "plug and play". The dog friendly aspect of the rental was key for us and our Black Lab, Sadie. Sadie loved roaming and investigating the spacious, fenced in back yard. Beds were comfortable, as were all living areas, especially the sun room where we spent a lot of time. Wifi, TV, BBQ, Laundry amenities were above average, and we made use of them all!
    The cottage is close to gas, grocery and drug stores. It is centered within a reasonable distance between both the 28 and 6 highways.
    Kim was very helpful to give us some ideas, such as dog friendly places (swim / hikes). We even found a few of our own and will be passing them on Kim for future renters.
    Kim made herself available to answer any questions or concerns we did have thru the week.
    Overall our return to Cape Cod, while way too short, was great. And this rental was a large reason for our restful vacation.     show more show less

    Hi, I'm Kim. Originally from Cape Cod, I moved to the north country in Vermont/New Hampshire to open an herbal apothecary and purchase land to create a botanical sanctuary.
    I always had ''Sand in my toes', and the ocean has called me home.
    I purchased this home in March 2022.
    I head north to my vermont home in summer and am able to share this with those who want to visit Cape Cod.

    The previous owners loved this home and built much of it. Simple quality design, real wood molding and gorgeous natural landscaping that offers privacy and beauty.
    I've made significant updates, though I want to keep the house close to its original cape home feel.
    Pictures updated as we go.
    Leveler blinds will be in the bedrooms and wood blinds in living room. New washer and dryer just installed. New gutters and white trim, new window cills, and modern clean windows are recent updates. An on demand hot water heater makes for relaxing and long showers after a day at the beach. We're trying to get the outdoor shower too! Inquiries about monthly rates are welcome.


    What is special about this property?
    This home is central to all the towns I love on Cape cod. And is a convenient gateway to the lower cape and the National Seashore. The house is central between the north side bay beaches and the south side ocean beaches.
    Its 2 miles off the highway, and close to amenities, yet quiet and private.
    I've fenced in the entire yard so children and dogs are safe while you grill and relax.

    And if you have questions or concerns during your stay, I'm a phone call, email, or text away.
    I have a local handyman on the ready should you have any concerns during your stay.
    I love it here. I'm pretty sure you will too.

    What is special about your town?
    Access to all the beaches, ponds, restaurants, activities in Harwich, Chatham, Brewster, and Dennisport.
    And Dennis and Route 6A is straight up Route 137 just off our street. Easy access everywhere, this is a great home base. I'm assembling a welcome binder at the house for you to have which will contain all the great places (and places to take your pooch).
