This property has been our family vacation home since 1968. My parents wanted to have a place to bring their family of five children in summer, where we could explore and play in a safe environment. They found a house that had belonged to a deceased single woman who, we think, ran a boarding house. It had not een inhabited for three years prior and it needed lots of work. My parents made it comfortable and we have enjoyed making wonderful memories in the time since. Five siblings now share ownership and decision making about the use of the property.. We seek to maintain the property in a way that will preserve it as a resource for future generations.
We began renting in 2007. We took a break from renting in 2019 and are resuming this year.

What is special about this property?
It was not a perfect home and over the years, we have made renovations that made sense to us. We added a full bath in 2007, so there are now 2.5 bathrooms and an oversized outdoor shower. A new kitchen in 2014 resulted from the decision to add a dishwasher and the realization that the old kitchen needed updating as well. As we processed what changes made sense, the contractor recommended pulling up the floor and removing the walls and starting from scratch. The process continues and, as the spaces evolve, we share the home and the opportunity for others to create meaningful memories of their own. There are some things about it that have always been perfect. The location is walking distance to everything you may need during your stay...beach is only steps away. Tennis courts, terrific restaurants, shopping, the ferry, a bike path that goes to Edgartown and connects with up-island biking opportunuties are all within walking distance. The wrap-around covered porch enables time outside even when it rains (except with windy conditions) and the view of the water becomes hypnotic.
