Our home is 2/10 mile from Cape Cod Rail(bike) Trail, adjoins Nickerson State Park & just over 1 mile from bay beaches, a perfect playground for kids. The Brewster Flats are famous for their tides going out a mile, leaving small tidal pools for kids to play in & gather hermit crabs & minnows. Walk the 3 miles of unspoiled, undeveloped beaches from the Cape Cod Sea Camps to the Namsacket Creek.
Our year-round home is a saltbox style Cape with 3 bedrooms upstairs that can sleep 7 and a downstairs den with pull out couch, for a total of 8. There are 2 full bathrooms, with the 1st floor newly renovated. Great outdoor living with a deck, huge stone patio with a fire pit, a pergola for outdoor dining, a barbecue, a new outdoor shower. Our extensive 2017 addition features a luxurious huge 2nd floor master bedroom, with back stair entrance, a garage and 1st floor laundry room and full pantry. Enjoy our fully landscaped patio, which overlooks a large, private fenced in backyard, a perfect playground for kids.
The downstairs has central air conditioning, newly added in 2017, and the upstairs has window AC units. In the sun room and upstairs bath, there are new solar-powered skylights, which can be opened and shades drawn with remote control. There are 2 smart TVs – one in the sunroom and the other in the master bedroom. If there is a morning or evening chill, there is a gas fireplace in the kitchen/dining area. We enjoy our morning coffee out on the back deck in our peaceful back yard.
In the summer of 2016, we bought our house in the quaint town of Brewster on the north shore of Cape Cod, an island connected by 2 bridges to the mainland. Our beachfront community has excellent restaurants, antique shops & art galleries, and a 150 year old country store. We love the Brewster bay beaches, also called the ''Brewster Flats,'' where the tides go out a mile, creating sandbars & tidal pools. Great for beach lounging, kids exploring, and playing baseball, Frisbee or bocce on the “flats.”
The Cape Cod Bike (Rail) Trail, 30+ miles of paved trail, is 2/10 mile down the street. The trail goes west to mid-Cape and east to Nauset, Coast Guard and Nauset Light Beaches and beyond, where there’s big surf. Visit the National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor Center to learn about the Cape and walk or bike 2 miles to the ocean beaches. Sailing & fishing charters are available in Orleans, the next town over. Nickerson State Park, accessible from our neighborhood, has bike trails throughout, 5 freshwater ponds and nature programs…you can use our kayaks.
Beach stickers are available at Town Hall and provide access to all 7 Brewster beaches. Looking for delicious fried clams or ice cream? Check out Cobies Clam Shack, a ½ mile from our house right off the bike trail. Some favorite things for kids in town are the 150 year old Brewster Country Store where kids can buy penny candy and a variety of Cape souvenirs. Other fun activities for kids are the Brewster Bookstore, Brewster Ladies Library and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. Adults would like a visit to the Lemon Tree Village, with 15 shops including Cafe Alfresco and the Cook Shop, the best kitchen store you've ever seen. Or a cocktail on The Terrace at the beautiful Ocean Edge Resort, overlooking the bay. Go on a whale watch out of Provincetown for a truly amazing experience. show more show less
