If you long for the days of old when things were a little more quiet and simple, Eastham still has that feel of ''Old Cape Cod.'' It's a small town with all the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

Eastham is also considered the Gateway of the “Outer Cape” and the beginning of “The Cape Cod National Seashore”, it sits in between Provincetown {the furthest tip of the Cape} and Hyannis which is only a ½ hour drive either way. Since Eastham is on one of the narrowest parts of the Cape, the ride from a Bay side beach to one of the Ocean side beaches is no more than a 10-15 minute drive or a 20 minute bike ride.
While staying here you might feel like you are back with the Colonialist and Pilgrims of our great country, back when America was not the ''United States of America'' yet, but just 13 Colonies. Symbols of the original 13 Colonies are still evident in the original construction and finish woodwork of the home.
Campground Beach is just 6/10 of a mile walk down the end of the road on the bay side with a nice little convenience store (3/10 mile) half way between the house and the beach. During low tide you can walk out between a 1/2 mile to a mile. It is great for the little kids who like to play in warm salt water puddles, dig for clams, or build sand castles to the sky.
Don't miss coming back to the beach at night to take in the beautiful Ocean Sunset, which is not a common site if you are from the East Coast because of the way Cape Cod curls around at its elbow as you head toward the tip of the Cape…. The Bay side begins to face towards the West and you get to experience one of the many simple, magical pleasures of “Old Cape Cod.”
The Cape Cod National Seashore was established in 1961 to protect the sheltering dunes and beautiful coastline. Eastham has two ocean-side beaches on the National Seashore: Coast Guard Beach, which always rated one of the top 10 beaches in the whole Nation, and Nauset Light Beach. Both beaches mark the beginning of 30 miles of National Seashore which stretch all the way to Provincetown.
The red and white Nauset Lighthouse is said to be the most photographed site on Cape Cod.
Get up early with your family or your spouse and take a bike ride on the Rail Trail, which runs 24 miles from Dennis through Eastham and into Wellfleet. Later that night take a friend or the family to the ''Wellfleet Drive-In'', located just 2 miles away in the town of Wellfleet. The ''Wellfleet Drive-In'' is a blast from the past.
Stop in any morning 2 minutes down the road to ''The Hole in One'' donut shop on Rte 6 and get yourself a delicious cup of coffee or tea and/or a ''taste bud screaming'' homemade donut or muffin.
There are many fine local Restaurants as well, The ''Lobster Pool'' which has great lobster and seafood, The ''Friendly Fisherman'' where you can eat outdoors and byob. The ''Fairway Restaurant'', which has a good combination of all foods especially their creative pizzas, and last but certainly not least ''Arnold's Restaurant.'' on Rte. 6 and the bike trail aka The Rail Trail. show more show less
