Description

This original Outer Cape Cod vacation cottage is located away from Rte 6 in North Eastham, on the Steele Road slope. Walk down the front yard incline, turn left and easily stroll to the neighborhood's Cooks Brook Beach for memorable days and magical sunsets.

Here is a small, simple, comfortable place, remodeled to include an open floor plan, skylights and plenty of modern amenities, including heat and cooling. Sports and news channels are included in cable t.v.

The cottage is surrounded by mature bushes and various types of tall trees, offering privacy and seclusion in an area with easy access to other beaches, towns and destinations. Step out the back door into the expanse of grassy space to enjoy a quiet, natural area.

The kitchen entrance opens out to a small deck. Step down to the right to the barbecue gas grill area. The left leads to a roomy, outdoor shower.

As with many Cape Cod offerings, renters enjoy the beaches, boating, bicycling options, visits to other towns and the Islands, and access to golfing and summer conferences.

We greet arriving renters, answer questions, and help them settle in.

You're Going to Fall in Love with Old Cape Cod!

This lovely 2 bedroom cottage is immaculate, well appointed and just a 10 minute walk to Cook's Brook bay side beach. The internet and TV reception is excellent and we loved having a washer and dryer in the cottage to do some light laundry. The owner's cottage is next door making it easy to get any questions answered. Karen and Joe are warm and friendly and very happy to answer questions without being intrusive. We also found Eastham to be an ideal departure point for exploring both the lower, mid and upper cape. We took several day trips that included the Sandwich Glass and Heritage Museum in Sandwich, lunch and sightseeing in the quaint town of Chatham and a couple of fantastic dinners in vibrant and memorable Provincetown. In closing, for me, it was the peace and quite of the property at night that I cherished most. You will be blown away by how many stars you can see when there is no light pollution! show more show less

Oasis at the Cape

My family really enjoyed the peaceful and warm cottage. Joe and Karen have created a serene atmosphere as the cottage is surrounded by trees. The cottage is a short walk to the bay where my child loved digging in the sand at low tide. The cottage is about a three mile drive to Coast Guard beach, where my family enjoyed boogie boarding at low tide. The cabin is stocked with beach chairs and boogie boards to enjoy the ocean.

There is an outdoor shower at the cabin that is perfect for rinsing sand from the children. And the private outdoor shower offered a peaceful and quiet shower under the stars each night.

The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen, grill, and is equipped with a washer and dryer. Therefore, our family was able to keep costs and calories down with home cooked meals each night.

Great Vacation

We had a wonderful week. Your cottage was clean and cozy with a great outdoor shower. We especially loved the air conditioning after our hot days on the beach.

Excellent Cottage

We stayed in Karen and Joseph's cottage for 1 week in July. Everything we needed was provided. The owners are nearby to help with anything needed but not obtrusive. The cottage was perfect for us and our 11 year old son. There is a nice back yard area with a fire pit and plenty of space for kids to play. We had friends over one night with kids as well for a total of 7 kids and 5 adults. While we were at the beach, more chairs appeared around the fire and 7 sticks for marshmallows :) We would definitely stay here again! show more show less

Perfect location

It was exactly what we have been looking for, and it had everything we needed. It was a quick and easy bike ride to the bay beach. Karen and her husband were wonderful and very helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.

Quiet and comfortable

I stayed at the cottage for a week with my two young children. The cottage is cute, quiet, comfortable, and a stone's throw from my favorite Wellfleet summer attractions, like Marconi beach (one of the best beaches on the Cape), the Welfleet drive-in (a must with kids), and Mac's seafood on the pier (it's simply the freshest and most delicious around). We had a delightful stay all in all. The kitchen is fully equipped and there's a gas grille. Owners are friendly and available, but not intrusive. We'll be coming back at some point, hopefully sooner than later. show more show less

Can't wait to visit again!

Our visit was flawless! We can't wait for next year to visit again. The property is a picturesque, natural-style landscaped, wooded knoll, with three very private cottages situated around the peak, which is, itself, a charming, quiet, park-like setting from which you can almost see the nearby beach.

Our secluded cottage was beautifully laid out: two bedrooms, a living room, a surprisingly very well-supplied modern kitchen and a bathroom, complete with shower and tub. All were spotless. There were many extras that we didn't expect: an outdoor shower, a patio with picnic table and chairs, skylights, cool cross-ventilation, air-tight insulation, and reserved multi-car parking conveniently next to the cottage.

We walked to a relatively unpopulated beach in 10 minutes (no entry fee for pedestrians!), and drove 15 minutes to two surfing beaches. Hosts Karen and Joe were very friendly, hospitable and helpful when we wanted, but unobtrusive otherwise, never spoiling the serenity and seclusion that we enjoyed so much. We recommend this rental with great enthusiasm. You will not be disappointed!

A quiet get away....off the beaten path.

My wife and I spent a wonderful week in this peaceful retreat. Just what the doctor ordered. Less than 30 minutes to Provincetown, and an hour or so to any of the other major cities on the Cape, we had an ideal stay. Also, we were a five minute walk to a secluded beach with fabulous sunsets. Karen and Joe are great people, and made the stay all the more enjoyable. A true "Cape Cod" experience.

Cute Cottage

As always, staying at this location is beautiful, 1/2 mile walking distance to a beach, close to wonderful nature walks and restaurants. This quaint cottage is nestled in a wooded property and is a wonderful place to stay! It is well maintained, clean and the beds are very comfortable.

While the cottage maintains the traditional rustic look and feel, it includes modern creature comforts. The outdoor shower is a joy, and beach supplies are at the ready if you want to walk down the road to Cooks Brook Beach or head out to the ocean side at nearby Coast Guard Beach.

The owners are very welcoming, kind, and helpful. The only problem is that we didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back!

Except for the old trees, our property was almost clear cut, when we found it. We took care of the old trees and planted new greenery. Now we have an acre of property that looks in on itself: A green respite with sweet cottages on the inside surrounded by the beach and seashell driveways on the outside.

We welcome arriving travelers and help them settle in.

What is special about this property?
Remodeled, vintage cottages, comparatively small and simple, have some popular amenities and eclectic design elements.

Two cottages were built on a slope, initially the bay's outlet bank. Most renters either walk or bike down the driveway, then onto to Steele Road to go straight to the beach. The slope is high enough to afford a sense you are away from it all. The third cottage is built back from the road, surrounded by bushes and trees.

A clear cut, grassy, backyard space is used in a variety of ways by different renters.

Landscaping is cared for but not manicured.

Cottage interiors are cozy, comfortable, warm enough for early and mid winter and cool enough to avoid heat and humidity.

What is special about your town?
Eastham is a laid back town, easily connected to all parts of the Cape, nevertheless aiming to avoid rapid development and to stay in stride with the National Seashore's preservation goals.

The National Seashore takes care of two of the most beautiful beaches. Eastham is long and thin geographically; you are never farther than two miles away from ocean and bay beaches.

The Outer Cape is a unique, fragile, yet tough, a natural environment, basking in a degree of sunlight that continues to draw painters and photographers. Wherever you are on the Outer Cape, around sunrise and sunset, remember to look at everything...the sky, the trees, the colors of the clouds and the shadows of Cape Cod structures.
