Description

Description

This original Outer Cape Cod cottage, ideal for either one or two guests, is located away from Rte 6 in North Eastham. Surrounded by tall trees and mature greenery, the cottage affords an easy stroll to the beach.

Here is a simple, classic cottage, brought to contemporary style with an open floor plan, a vaulted ceiling and popular amenities, including an expanded cable package, air conditioning and heat.

There is a mixture of vintage, antique and contemporary furnishings. There is a fully equipped galley kitchen connected to the kitchen bar with high backed bar chairs in addition to the separate dining area. Off the kitchen, near the back entrance, there is a laundry, storage and washing machine area. The bathroom has a small tub and a shower. The living room area holds a long, comfortable couch and a large, cushioned summer chair among the other furnishings. The living, dining and bedroom areas have soft wall to wall, area, or runner rugs.

Out back, there is a clothes line and a few steps off to the right, is the ''small loads'', apt. sized clothes dryer room. There is a simple, outside shower setup for washing off after the day's activities.

The cottage is nestled away from Anne Road, surrounded by varieties of tall trees and bushes, offering a sense of privacy. There is a small deck in back, and a farmers porch with wicker rocking chairs in front.

Vacationers enjoy the beaches, boating, bicycling options, visits to other towns and the Islands, and access to golfing and summer conferences.

We greet arriving renters, answer questions, and help them settle in. We are available, albeit unobtrusively to guests, through out their stays. Not too far away is the two bedroom cottage, Property #4035, if you want to include friends and and family in your plans.

Cottage Review

We LOVED our stay here! A comfortable, cozy house in an idyllic woodland setting close to the beautiful vistas of Cape Cod. We were not aware of our nearest cottage neighbor. It was quiet and peaceful. The cottage was well equipped—nothing was forgotten.

It was so close to the best places to visit—the fabulous Cape Cod National Seashore with its natural and human history. And the population centers including Provincetown with its many cultural venues.

We were able to lose track of time. I decided that I could easily spend a summer here! show more show less

Our Stay at the Cottage

My wife and I needed a place to stay at the last minute, and this cottage was available (property ID # 4034). The pictures looked good, but you never really know what you're getting until you show up. Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised as the cottage had everything we needed. It was exceptionally clean, which is always a nice touch. The owners were very informative and helpful, ensuring that our stay was a good one. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for some time in the Cape, and we would absolutely return. Excellent rating on all fronts. show more show less

Great Cottage!

My girlfriend and I spent a week in this cottage in August and loved it! Karen was very nice and really made the place feel like a home away from home. The cottage combines modern amenities such as central air and a dishwasher with the classic vintage cottage feel one imagines on the Cape. The cottage had everything we were looking for and you can't beat the location and ten minute walk to the beach. Will definitely stay here again!

Cute, quiet cottage with great location

This quaint cottage had everything I needed to enjoy a beautiful week at the cape. Nice kitchen, comfortable family area with tv, comfortable bed. Loved sitting out on the front porch with my breakfast. Owners were very nice and attentive. Was able to store my bike in their shed. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the shower. If there was a 4.5 would give it that. Small, old, very little water pressure. Other than that it was great.

Owner Response:

Dear Lori,
Thank you for taking the time to write a thorough and lovely review.

I apologize about the water pressure problem you experienced. As you know, we live on the premises, and make routine albeit non intrusive contact with our guests, advising them to get in touch immediately for any problems. I am sorry we did not know about this, while you were staying here. While we cannot fix the "small and old" impression, we would have evaluated the problem and intervened immediately. That is what we are here for.

Current guests report they have no water pressure problems. We will watch and intervene in this new, inconsistent water pressure event and we are very grateful for your heads up.

Yours,
Karen

We loved the Little Yellow Cottage!

This cute little gem is walking distance to Cooks Brook beach, one of the many wonderful bay side beaches in Eastham, and a short drive to the drive-in theater and P.B. Boulangerier (the primo French bakery and restaurant) in Wellfleet. The bed was firm but comfy and the rooms spacious.

We enjoyed many breakfasts out on the back deck while watching rabbits, chipmunks and a variety of birds going about their daily business. It always felt private. Karen, Joe and Micheal are wonderful caretakers, making sure everything is going well but in no way intrusive. Though the place is meant for two, our daughter stayed a few days in the beginning and we never felt uncomfortable or crowded. We look forward to another stay here in the near future! show more show less

Reasonable and comfortable

Our stay was very comfortable. Karen was most accommodating and helpful. The bed was good and a queen size. All the appliances worked, and it was not hard to make dinners with a well equipped kitchen. The location is not too far from the bay, the beach was very handy, and the cottage was in a pretty location with lots of greenery all around. We had a very nice time.

Wonderful Cape Cod Cottage

My wife and I had a wonderful week in this charming Outer Cape cottage. In particular, we loved the birds singing in the morning, the short walk to the beach, and easy drive to all our favorite spots in Wellfleet, Eastham and Orleans. We also appreciated the new appliances and the overall cleanliness of the place.

Karen and Joe were great hosts too--nearby and attentive to our few requests. We hope to have the opportunity to stay here again!

Peaceful Retreat with Spectacular Sunsets

My dear friend and I visited the Cape as a late summer escape from the heat of NYC and the work demands of fall. The cheerful yellow cottage was ideal for us -- simple, clean, and welcoming, furnished thoughtfully with all we needed for a comfortable, quiet retreat, including the hosts' personal recommendations for special places to see and where to eat the best local seafood.

We savored the incredible natural beauty of the Cape: hiking, whale watching, beach picnics, and by far the most beautiful sunsets (painted skies!) I have ever seen. Our hosts Karen and Joseph were both wonderfully available and attentive, while also offering ample space for a just-right feeling of autonomy and freedom. I highly recommend a visit! show more show less

A Certain Charm..........

Staying at The Anne Street Cottage is somewhat like going back to the cottage in which you summered as a child. I would describe it as an older structure that has been modernized by a DIY owner - so it is airy and light-filled and METICULOUSLY CLEAN. And there is an unusually comfortable queen size mattress/bed. All appliances are contemporary and function without problems. So - everything works well, but when there is something that the owners must tend to, the response is quick and friendly but never intrusive or nosey. (The owners' house is close by on the same property but bushes & trees make it private.) If you care, there is no air conditioning or clothes dryer - there is a good washer and clothes line for drying.

Minor quirks - The throw rugs in the bedroom are tacky looking & pose a fall threat.
A big plus - IT IS AFFORDABLE.

Dear Maryanne,

"A Certain Charm" is your heading for this cottage, and it serves our one bedroom cottage well. You took time to post this review. We are very appreciative of your compliments, thoughts and suggestions, and we thank you for your feedback.

I emphasize the accuracy of the listing. Therefore I am disappointed in the 4, rather than 5 stars rating above for "accuracy of listing."

Thank you, and we hope to see you next summer.

Gives you what your are looking for, and more!

When doing our annual search-for-a-cottage-to-enjoy-for-a week-that-we-can-afford, we look for several features that are listed in the checkoff boxes on weneedavacation, most particularly, outdoor shower, proximity to a beach, wifi. But we also seek those features that don't appear in the list. These features can be found only through looking at photographs of the property, and from reading reviews. We look for ample counter space because we cook and are good at it; horizontal surfaces free from clutter or cutsey decorations where we can put OUR stuff; a pleasant, open decor; and agreeable hosts. This property fulfilled all of our requirements, and for an affordable price. There were miles of counter space, empty horizontal surfaces, lots of light, and an open plan that made the space seem larger than you'd expect. Karen and Joseph, who reside nearby, are the perfect hosts: helpful, friendly, informative, and fun. They are there when you need something, or want to "hang", yet don't intrude and give you all the privacy you desire. We would certainly rent this cottage again, for two weeks this time! show more show less

Except for the old trees, our property was almost clear cut, when we found it. We took care of the old trees and planted new greenery. Now we have an acre of property that looks in on itself: A green respite with sweet cottages on the inside surrounded by the beach and seashell driveways on the outside.

We welcome arriving travelers and help them settle in.

What is special about this property?
Our place was once a turnip farm. Now that's special.

Remodeled, vintage cottages, comparatively small and simple, have some popular amenities and eclectic design elements.

Two cottages were built on a slope, initially the bay's outlet bank. Most renters either walk or bike down the driveway, then onto to Steele Road to go straight to the beach. The slope is high enough to afford a sense you are away from it all. The third cottage is built back from the road, surrounded by bushes and trees.

A clear cut, grassy, backyard space is used in a variety of ways by different renters.

Landscaping is cared for but not manicured.

Cottage interiors are cozy, comfortable, warm enough for early and mid winter and cool enough to avoid heat and humidity.

What is special about your town?
Eastham is a laid back town, easily connected to all parts of the Cape, nevertheless aiming to avoid rapid development and to stay in stride with the National Seashore's preservation goals.

The National Seashore takes care of two of the most beautiful beaches. Eastham is long and thin geographically; you are never farther than two miles away from ocean and bay beaches.

The Outer Cape is a unique, fragile, yet tough, a natural environment, basking in a degree of sunlight that continues to draw painters and photographers. Wherever you are on the Outer Cape, around sunrise and sunset, remember to look at everything...the sky, the trees, the colors of the clouds and the shadows of Cape Cod structures.
