Description

Description

This 2,300 square foot, 3 bedroom house has been designed for you to enjoy a private setting as well as a great gathering place for friends. This is not your typical house. Enjoy your privacy while having the luxury of plenty of space to share with your nearby friends and family. Every bedroom opens onto an outside patio. Ample parking. The big outdoor grill is connected to the house gas line, so no need to ever change gas cans. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. Open floor plan allows great flow from living room, dining room, kitchen and screened porch. In addition to cable TV, we have paid subscription channels that include Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Peacock.
It is a short (less than 2/10th of a mile) walk down a sandy trail to our homeowner association's private staircase to the beautiful swimming bay beach. Campground Beach is only 4/10th mile away. Wellfleet is 10 minutes north, and Provincetown is 25 minutes north. The National Seashore Ocean beaches are within 10 minutes.

The bedroom with the king bed is downstairs. The 2 main floor bedrooms both have queen beds.

The upgraded main bathroom has a large shower stall with a bench seat, a rain shower and a hand held shower which is convenient for showering young children. There is no tub in the houses. Of course there is the outdoor shower and shower in the master bedroom.

Home includes beach equipment (beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc) and games for indoors and out plus wi-fi.

The outdoor grill is hooked up directly to the house gas line.

Where to begin to describe Cape Cod. Our immediate neighborhood is very ''beachy'' feeling. Sand roads, windswept trees. It is largely a summer community, however many people do live year round. The rest of the Cape has so much to do: whale watching, beach combing, art galleries, shopping, sand dunes, too long a list to create here. A bike trail, The Cape Cod Rail Trail, can be accessed a short distance from the house. It is a paved bike-way that runs 28 miles from South Dennis to Wellfleet. Also a short distance is the Audubon with walking trails and a great visitor center. Fabulous restaurants abound with obviously a tremendous selection of seafood. The town of Orleans, which you will pass through just before you get to Eastham, has a great deal of shopping, including a large supermarket.

The good, the bad and the honest

First, it is very clear that this home is a complete labor of love for Sue and Roy. The art around the home is such an obvious extension of them.

The GOOD: The home is open and airy, clean and well appointed. The kitchen is a chef's kitchen with great appliances, open countertops and everything we needed to cook. The very best part of the home is the porch that opens so beautifully to the living room. It is exceptional!

The BAD: In our opinion the layout was very tough with kids and tall people. The king size bedroom in the basement was VERY far away from the upstairs bedrooms and made it impossible for us to sleep down there so far away from the kids. So some of us ended up sleeping upstairs on air mattresses, not the best. The downstairs bathroom is totally unusable for anyone over 6 feet and we had many in our party totally unable to use that bathroom. There is no bathtub in the home, again, if we had younger kids coming off the beach this would have been tough.

The HONEST: The art, though lovely, is everywhere with lots of signs that remind you to not touch the art. There is also massive collections of records and cd's all at toddler height. If I had arrived with younger kids I think I would have spent the week panicking and following around the kids. The beach, in our opinion, was not walkable with kids and beach stuff. We ended up driving to another beach with parking every day, not convenient.

This home is unique and fun but would be best suited for couples, it gives lots of private separate space but with kids was very difficult.

Sue and Roy were wonderful and helpful at every turn, every question. Just a delight to deal with and are clearly true ambassadors of our favorite place- Cape Cod.

    Owner Response:

I appreciate these comments. I have increased our description of the house, so guests are not met with surprises. I must respond to a few of the critiques. The ceiling in the downstairs bathroom is shorter in the toilet area, however, in more than 15 years of renting, we have never had any complaints about this bathroom with the majority of our guests returning year after year. We have always made it clear in our description that the beach is a 2/10th mile walk. I encourage any guests to reach out with any questions.show moreshow less

    What a great little hideaway

We were so happy with the atmosphere and vibe of this cute place. So much more room than we expected and so close to all the best destinations on the cape. Plenty of privacy and extremely clean. Dealing with Roy and Sue was a real treat. Will definitely return for more visits.

    Great Place in Eastham

We so enjoyed our stay at Sue and Roy's beautiful art house on the Cape. The house was spacious, warm, inviting, comfortable and in a superb location close to all activities and restaurants. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets on their tower that rises above the treetops. We also enjoyed grilling on their patio with choices of seating on the deck or garden grotto. We would definitely go back and plan to!

Repeat Renter! This beautiful, artsy beachhouse is always my go-to Cape Cod rental!

Once again, this house made our vacation relaxing, invigorating and fun. We had some doubts that we would be able to take a vacation due to COVID-19, but our correspondences with Sue and Roy assured us that we would have a safe, sanitized house. And that we did! They went the extra mile to make sure the place was very clean, and there were cleaning materials available for our use as well. With the pandemic, we knew this year was going to feel different on the Cape. We felt safe, and enjoyed being back at the artsy, geniusly laid out house - and didn't do too much venturing out. The skylit living room, with its high ceiling and art decoration is a great space to relax after a day at the beach. We spent quiet mornings reading on the screened porch or multiple decks. They seem to have remodeled the bottom floor deck area, it was freshly mulched and seemed to have new plantings. The rest of the outdoor space is filled with an array of beautiful plantings, some of their choices have inspired our own garden at home. The roof top view can not be beat. You see over the trees... and the whole neighborhood! Each day, we took a short walk to the beach, it's an easy walk along the dirt road. The sunsets were incredible. Very easy drives to pickup groceries / seafood, get ice cream. That's all we really did, the rest of the time we stayed put. There's enough to do in this house, and the neighboring beach, to keep us occupied and relaxed! We will of course be back. show more show less

    Perfect Getaway

My boyfriend and I visited from Boston and can't say enough lovely things about Sue and Roy's Cape property. Great location, easy to get to, and close enough to just about anything you'd want to visit on the Cape (including P-town, nature hikes, swimming, walking distance to the beach, etc). The house itself is so much fun--you can tell a lot of love went into its design and decor. If you can, be sure to climb the stairs to the widow's walk for a sunrise or sunset (can be a little cold this time of year but it's so beautiful--it's worth it!). Additionally, Sue and Roy are two of the most lovely people you'll ever have a chance to connect with. We look forward to returning very soon! show more show less

Beautiful, Spacious Eastham Home Bursting with Personality

On a whim, my girlfriend and I decided we would like to spend New Year's Eve on Cape Cod. After a lengthy search to find something that seemed right to begin the year, we found this lovely home. Nicely situated within walking distance to a private and scenic beach, it was the house itself which made our vacation. From the pontoon entrance to the majestic roof deck (have a drink up there at sunset!!) to the foosball table and gigantic bee art installation, it was easy to feel at home and take in the beautiful city of Eastham. There is a deck in almost every room! Decks everywhere! The screened in porch is a delight. The house is very spacious, and both the main and bottom floors are comfortable and artfully decorated. The place is perfectly situated to easily get to Wellfleet or Provincetown or any beach for the day. Don't hesitate to stay at this enchanting home... we will be back (I hope!) Be sure to visit the Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary and Visitor Center to get a feel for Cape Cod's rich history! show more show less

    A Biking Trip

Every year we try to ride the Cape Cod Rail Trail. This house was a perfect home base for our trip. It was great waking up early and having my coffee and reading on the screened in porch. So quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped, the wi-fi is a welcome addition, and the roof is a perfect place to a take in nature (with a glass of wine). Walking to the beach for a sunset is a must. The owners have been successful in making this a comfortable place while celebrating what nature has to offer. show more show less

We absolutely loved the cottage - so much so, that for about a week afterwards our 2 ½ year old daughter would start fussing and saying “no I want the other house!” whenever we pulled into our driveway at home.

Roy is a retired teacher and Sue is a retired RN. We have added onto what started out as a small cottage and have really made this house our dream. We love gardening so we hope you will enjoy the outside spaces. We also love to cook so the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped.

What is special about this property?
You will feel like you are on vacation the minute you step out of your car and onto our property. The house is inviting in so many ways. We have made this an ideal vacation home with gardens, our ''deck-in-the-sky, fun places to hide away and read a good book or get together in a group on the huge screened porch and 2 patios. Each bedroom has a door to the outside, so air flow is enhanced. One of our repeat renters dubbed it the art house as we have interesting art both inside and out. You won't regret your stay here.
