Description

The cottage is located on a quiet, lovely, dead-end dirt road with a spacious yard in front and back (.9 acre). Great neighbors--owner occupied on either side and directly across the street. Young children love riding their bikes on this quiet road.

The cottage is a short 7 minute walk to Thumpertown Beach, a bayside beach where the water is warmer than 'the ocean side'. Children (and adults!) can easily ride their bikes to and from 'Thumpertown'. The beach is great for swimming at high tide, as well as walking at low tide. Children of all ages love exploring and making discoveries in the many tidal pools that form at low tide. Thumpertown Beach boasts some of the most magnificent sunsets.

After the beach, the back yard at the cottage offers peace and quiet, plenty of chairs for relaxing, a picnic table and barbecue. It is a great place to read or observe 'bird activity' and sounds of nature. The cottage is in a quiet spot, but close enough to easily hop in the car and drive to the Cape Cod National Seashore, The Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham, or the Wellfleet Bay Audubon Sanctuary in Wellfleet.

If you are hungry, you are close to many deli and sandwich shops(Sam's Deli on Brackett Rd--yummy) or Box Lunch for wraps and salads, fish restaurants (Friendly Fisherman--silver medal winner on Rte 6, or famous Arnold's--also Rte 6), chocolate stores, and The Hole In One Donut Shop.(highly recommended!)

    Peaceful in Eastham

    The cottage was lovely. There was plenty of room, and the location was perfect. We enjoyed the very comfortable mattresses and had just what we needed in the kitchen. Wendy was a great landlord; she was prompt and helpful with communication! Thumpertown Beach was quiet and very close by. The cottage is in a great neighborhood with friendly people. Eastham is my favorite town on the Cape, and Wendy provided a cozy, comfortable getaway to be back there again.

    Have been going there 60+ years

    This house is located close to and within walking distance of Thumpertown Beach in Eastham on the bay side. Provincetown can be seen from this beach. The water is warm unlike the other side of the Cape at Nauset. The cottage has all the amenities and has a huge back yard with a picnic table/benches. I've been going there with my family 60+ years and only wish I could stay all summer.

    The Midgley cottage is lovely. It is quaint and on a quiet street, but a quick walk to peaceful Thumpertown Beach. My family and I have enjoyed staying here since I was very young. I've gone there alone for peace and solitude and I've gone there with family and friends, and every time I find it difficult to leave. It is welcoming and friendly, everything you need for a restful reprieve. I highly recommend this cottage as your home away from home. Eastham is also easy access to many beautiful sights. show more show less

    This cottage is a much loved cottage--for 4 generations in my family! We have many great Cape memories here; and are happy to know other families have enjoyed special times here as well.

    What is special about this property?
    The cottage is located on a quiet road, surrounded by great neighbors, Large yard. Casual comfort. Easy access to Thumpertown Beach. Great place for kids (of all ages!)

    What is special about your town?
    Eastham is unique in that it includes 2 National Seashore beaches (Nauset Light and Coast Guard), as well as many bay beaches. Coast Guard Beach in Eastham has frequently made the Top 10 beaches in the USA for families. SInce Eastham is so narrow, it is easy to go to both bay and Atlantic beaches within 15 minutes! It has a Great Visitor Center at the Salt Pond for information, movies, gift shop, trails. Easy acccess to bike trails. And lots of good places to eat!
