We Need a Vacation.com

I hesitate to share this gem of a place, but why keep a good thing to myself! For years we have looked forward to returning to this charming cottage. It is one of our favorite places to relax and take in the beauty of nature. My morning coffee is had overlooking the bay while watching birds and rabbits in the yard. We usually bring our lunch of lobster rolls back to cottage where we spend afternoons reading or napping in back yard or walking the short sand path to the bay. There is also entrance by road but sand path is more fun. If you like cooking, the kitchen is well stocked and has what we need. Usually in the evening if we don't dine out we barbecue outside, sit at a comfortable table and watch the evening sunset. Sometimes we walk to bay where we join neighbors for the event. The area us quiet but if you want action P Town is a short drive away. The cottage in not elaborate but charming. It is clean, cozy, the kind of New England retreat we love. At night we can sit indoors using internet, watch TV but I prefer being outside with nature. I sleep soundly as I rarely do at home. The bedroom and bed is comfortable or you can sleep in this adorable space with a single bed. No need to lock door but having lived in a city I always do! The owner is a pleasure. She keeps the property well maintained, follows through with promises, is fair and kind. Not only do we look forward to everything the Cape offers but each summer we look forward to seeing her again. show more show less

My family goes back generations. I have been a summer resident of Eastham all my life. My family has all passed on and I am blessed to have this home to share with others. There is no place like it. It is heaven on earth.

What is special about this property?
Located on Longstreet Lane (named after the SS James Longstreet, the infamous ''target ship''), the cottage sits a top a dune looking out over Cape Cod Bay. It was built in the 1950s by my Great Uncle, brick by brick. He loved to fish off shore for stripers and I have fond memories of him cleaning them on a picnic table out in the yard. The cottage was one of the first properties on this street. The bedroom was actually an addition which made the original cottage pretty small. It had a fireplace that he would stoke with wood. The rumor has it he was sitting next to the fireplace during a storm and lightening came down the chimney and struck his big toe. The wood burning fireplace has long been dismantled and a natural gas fireplace is in its place. The neighborhood area is rich in family history. My family also owned property on the same street and I reside there now.

What is special about your town?
Small, quaint and reserved, this beautiful oasis is heaven on earth.
