Our family had a wonderful time at this lovely seaside cottage. The location was perfect – a quick walk (3-5 min) to Thumpertown beach and an easy drive to The National Seshore/Coastguard beach. The cozy accommodations are clean and the kitchen had have everything we could need. The outdoor shower was magnificent and our city kids (ages 8 & 3) got a kick out of the novelty of it. Eastham is a great town with lots of places to eat and a quick drive to other quintessentially cute Cape towns. It is definitely a spot we look forward to returning to again in the future! show more show less

Words can't really explain how special this cottage is. The memories that I made with my family are priceless. Thumpertown beach is truly a hidden gem. Sunsets on the beach in PJ's was one of my kids favorite memories. Eileen is simply wonderful and always available and accommodating. We will certainly be back next year and if we are lucky enough every year after that. I have been coming to the cape since I was a child and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather stay again. so this cottage is extremely close to the beach. you can see the ocean from the end of the driveway. this is a great place to stay for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 older kids. We did not have enough room for our family of 4 with a toddler and 4 year old. there was not enough room in either bedrooms to set up our pack n play. cottage is tiny. you also have to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to the beach. the yard is nice but it's landscaped with broken sea shells and definitely not kid friendly if they fall. the patio is on the far side of the house . and lastly we were not aware that there was going to be outdoor cameras that are monitored by the owner. I received emails while we were there to pick up her flower pot on front step that had tipped over, asked to water her flowers. also my husband peed outside a couple of times when we got back from the beach . we were all covered in sand and needed to shower off . so like every man in the world he went pee outside quick over by the shed. so we didn't have to go in the house covered in sand. well the owner was not happy. i received another email about that. i felt very uncomfortable every time u stepped out the door , felt i was being watched. also it has now been a month since our stay and have not received our deposit back. we left the cottage spotless. i wiped down counters, table , cleaned the bathroom and vacuumed before leaving . no washer and dryer is also a big inconvenience with small kids. we had to go to the laundromat twice. i will say the beds were comfortable . the couch was not . there's also not cable tv as advertised . there's basic cable , news channels and a couple others . show more show less

My family has vacationed at Once Upon a Tide for 2 summers, and we absolutely loved our stay. The property was everything we were looking for to accommodate our party. The house is extremely clean and quaint through and through. The bed was comfortable, and we always had a great night of sleep. The location is perfect as it is a quick walk to Thumpertown Beach. It was so convenient to come and go from the beach to the house all day long-from morning bayside beach walks to viewing the most beautiful sunsets in the evening. In addition, Eastham is a great town to be in because you are close to restaurants, shopping, the National Seashore, etc. Lastly, the owner of the property was great at getting back to you if you had any questions. My partner and I regularly do summer trips to Cape Cod and were very late to act this year, due to the uncertainty around what we'd be able to do this summer. I reached out to the owner, Eileen, about the property and she told me that the dates we were looking at were unfortunately claimed. I sighed and accepted reality. UNTIL, a couple of months later, she reached out, saying her original party had dropped out and she had our dates available again!! And what a wonderful, nice surprise that was! Eileen was incredibly communicative throughout the process, from the booking, to the confirmation, to our time in the cottage. And OH THE COTTAGE. It was PERFECT for us (although having another friend, couple and/or kids along would also would have been perfectly okay in her cabin.) The kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals for the week and we grilled outside basically every day. We didn't need to use the AC at all when we were staying there and instead relied on the fans most of the time. It is located basically a 5 minute walk from Thumpertown Beach, which is a cute, public beach. It is not a quiet beach by any means but we were always able to find space and enjoy our days under the sun. We could leave our stuff on the beach to grab some lunch at the cottage and then go back and pick up where we left off. I did *not* want to leave after our week was done. I highly recommend this property to you if you are a couple (or a small group) that's looking to get away for a week and lay low and enjoy the beach! show more show less

This property is extremely well maintained, very clean with adorable decor. We are a family of 5 with three kids (ages 13 and 11 year old twins) and found this cottage to be more spacious than expected- nice size front yard for games after a day at the beach! Very close to Thumpertown beach- quick 3 minute walk. Amenities are excellent and owner, Eileen, is a pleasure to rent from - highly responsive and attentive to all the little details. We especially loved the memory book she leaves for each renter to share special vacation memories! Such a sweet touch! Highly recommend this property! show more show less

"Once Upon a Tide" has a nice beachy feel and is very conveniently located to all the best that the Cape has to offer. Thumpertown bay beach is a few minutes walk down the street. The sunsets are consistently gorgeous night after night and at low tide one can walk through warm clean water for what feels like miles toward the horizon. If you prefer ocean beaches, The National Seashore is a few minutes car ride away and has a spectacular shoreline and scenic ocean beaches. (It was nice to visit different parts of the National Seashore each day.) In addition, the Cape Cod Bike Trail is nearby and one can ride all the way to Chatham or Dennis along a well maintained trail with no cars and fabulous scenery.

After a day biking, swimming, or walking the beach, it was great to come back to this homey nice cottage to rest and get ready for the next day of fun. The cottage itself is really clean and the beds are very comfortable. There is both an indoor and outdoor shower and both are immaculate. The kitchen is well equipped and has both a Keurig and a drip coffee maker. If you'd rather eat out, there are myriad excellent seafood restaurants, just a short drive away. We definitely recommend this property and look forward to returning next summer. show more show less
