Description

Our Historic 1850s Federal Home is set on 2 acres with beautiful mature trees and large lawn areas and is unique for Eastham. Sea captains lived here many years ago. The property is surrounded by 45 acres of Conservation Land. Wooded trails lead from our yard thru the woods and to the Cape Cod Bike Trail.

Come stay in this period home which has not lost its charm and beauty. The solid construction of days gone by makes this home a pleasure to live in. There are 5 rooms on the first floor most with hardwood floors. . Our renovated large kitchen/dining area has granite counters, cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, a gas 5 burner stove, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher. Drawers are filled with pans and serving pieces, spices and all one would need to prepare a delightful meal. We have a pantry full of dishes and space for food which provides plenty of room for storage.

The dining area has a table that seats 8-10 persons and opens onto the kitchen. A large double wide glass patio door opens to a kitchen deck, south facing, a great place to sit and watch the birds. There is also a kitchen porch on the north side which is cool in the summer.

Next, we enter a dining room that can be used for meals or a game table. The large antique mahogany table can seat 8-10, great for those wild card games.

Our next 2 rooms with wide openings make the flow wonderful to the living rooms with comfortable seating. The end living room has a 65 '' TV and a stereo.

The first floor has a smaller room that opens to a bath with sink and toilet and a shower. This room can turn into a bath and dressing room as needed.

The downstairs has 2 air conditioners and we have fans if needed.

We have two staircases that access our 4 bedrooms upstairs. The front staircase and hall have original wallpaper, a large lovely space, old but authentic. The front door opens from the front hall to a beautiful old covered porch. This has furniture and is a lovely place to sit out and read or visit with others.

Our back staircase is the original staircase giving a second egress.

The Master Bedroom has a queen-size bed and many windows. The room is large with a desk tucked in the alcove. Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed (two twins together ) and is very comfortable. Bedroom 3 is a bit smaller but also has a king bed (two twins together) and this room has a wall TV- If needed any of the king beds can be separated. Bedroom 4 is a single bedroom with a twin bed.

All bedrooms have window air conditioners. The bedroom floors are painted pine wood with area rugs.
The upstairs bath has tiled walls and ceramic tile floor. The tub/shower is full size.

There is parking for 4-6 cars in our driveway area. Our road is private with only one home at the end using the road.

The outdoor property is amazing. Our trees and boxwood shrubs have a long history. We have 2 grills, plenty of area to sit out - play with the kids and enjoy privacy. Being the last property in Eastham, we have convenient access to shopping, restaurants, theater, Art, in Orleans. The highway is nearby providing easy access to all of the Cape. Back roads will lead to Route 6 in North Eastham and the outer Cape towns.
Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach are just 2-3 miles away in the National Seashore having miles of hiking trails. Programs go on daily with the Seashore all over the Cape. Be sure to pick up one of their newspapers at the Seashore headquarters in Eastham when you arrive. Fort Hill is magnificent, bring your camera, trails over wooden walkways to ocean trails. Wild Beach Roses release their beautiful scent as you pass.
The Bay Beaches are many in Eastham, beach stickers can be purchased at the lots or at the Town Highway Office on Orchard Road. We have two beaches on fresh water, Wiley Park off Herringbrook Road and a Lovely beach off Great Pond Road.

Fishing is very good in many Kettle Hole Ponds in Eastham as well as Great Pond. The Bay fishing for Stripers and Blues can be off the beaches or take a boat out of Rock Harbor just down the street.

Kayaking is available thru the Seashore program in Town Cove nearby.

Towns have Farmers Market Days each week - I will have information at the house on many town happenings. Each town also holds a Bandstand Music, Eastham holds music at the Windmill.

Our theaters are open again so check out all the Towns Productions, excellent and affordable.
Make sure to visit P-Town for sure- a wonderful, crazy, cultural, historical community. Wellfleet is also special with the Harbor, Macs Seafood right on the Beach, Art Shops, Great Island Hikes and the Audubon. Chatham is not far away. Bring the kids to the fish market on the ocean near Chatham Bars Inn and see the seals wait for a few fish from the catch. The Main street is wonderful with shops and restaurants- a movie theater there has arts films and food as well as popular films.

The Cape has many great golf courses. Captains in Brewster, with 2 beautiful 18 hole courses are top-notch. All get busy so book soon.

Things that are fun are the many Thrift shops, one or two per town, some really special finds await.
Make sure to get to at least one Cape Cod League Baseball Game. In Orleans, the Cardinals play at the Middle School for home games, just around the corner. Many Pros have come from these teams across the Cape.

Cape Cod is a wonderful place. I hope you come to visit. I know you will have a great time rain or shine.

Cancellation Policy: Must cancel at least 30 days prior to arrival date for a full refund except a $100 handling fee.

My husband and I moved to Eastham in 1998- We fell in love with this 1850's home. We were the first owners of this land after the 350 yrs in the Smith family.
Micheal is a retired Sales Engineer and I am retired from nursing and a successful real estate business.
This former home of the Smith Family has history with sea captains, life in early Eastham and Pirate Treasure.
When Barry Clifford, a Treasure hunter who found the ''Whydah'' Pirate ship of Captain Bellamy off Wellfleet, came to Eastham with crew, they rented this home from the last Smith owner.
John Kennedy Jr. was part of the Crew and all stayed here when the first treasure was discovered.
Pictures of the ''Captains House'' can be seen at the Pirate Museum in Yarmouth , MA.
We live here year round but when quests come we use that time to travel to our Maine Oceanfront home in Machiasport Maine on VRBO # 119166- a beautiful 6 BR home.
You will enjoy the peace of this property and being close to all the amenities of Eastham and the Cape area, the National Seashore and Bay Beaches, shopping and the arts.
We sold acreage to the Town Conservation so trails lead thru the woods to the Bike path.
We are surrounded by 50 acres of open space, only one home is beyond us, nature lovers who enjoy their privacy.
We have a private drive and plenty of parking.
We hope should you stay with us for attending a wedding or summer vacation you will find this home and outdoor property the perfect place to reunite and relax.

What is special about this property?
a large solid home- Beautiful yard- mature plantings
lovely interior with sunlight and room to spread out.

easy access to Rt. 6 for visiting the Cape yet hidden away
easy access to Orleans and route 6A and Rt 28 to other Cape towns and events- yet private
Home provided with great large of kitchen with plenty of all you need to make fabulous meals, if you are cooking.
Plenty of nature deer, birds, racoons,
