Description

Come stay in our spacious, bright and airy home! Cathedral ceilings and multiple adjustable skylights, glass sliders and curtained floor-to-ceiling windows along the back wall, and many other large windows throughout the home all allow you to enjoy just as much of Cape Cod's beautiful light and ocean breezes as suits your mood at the moment. At the same time, every space in the house is air conditioned so you’ll never be overheated despite all the glorious sunlight pouring in. We provide wi-fi internet access and offer cable as well as free Netflix on 3 HD TV’s, each of which has its own attached DVD player, and have music systems in both the living room and the lower level family room.

The layout of the house allows for both privacy and comfortable gatherings as desired. On the first floor, the open design of the living room, dining area and kitchen create a large and generous space for coming together, supplemented by the expansive first floor deck and the comfortable family room on the lower level. At the same time, our 4 comfortable sleeping areas are laid out in such a way that guests can easily spread out and enjoy a real feeling of privacy in their own spaces when desired. This home is a duplex, sharing an oversized lot and a single wall with the neighboring home, but because of the space and layout of the property, there is a sense of complete privacy both inside and out.

We have an outdoor shower for a quick rinse off after a sandy day at the beach, and a wood-burning fireplace for a peaceful evening after a busy day. Our kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs and our huge first floor deck, with access to our back yard and great views of the adjacent marsh grasses and birds, also has a large gas grill and an outdoor dining area, as well as many other comfortable seating options including a hammock.

And in case all that isn’t enough Boat Meadow’s beautiful, quiet bayside beach is just a short walk down the road. There's a nice sandy area for sunbathing, and when the tide is in, the beach offers both a naturally formed shallower inlet perfect for younger children to enjoy wading and swimming in and also deeper waters for older swimmers a bit further out along the beach. When the tide is out, the tidal flats at Boat Meadow Beach go almost a full mile out! Perfect for long walks and maritime explorations. And to top it all off, Boat Meadow Beach provides spectacular sunset views pretty much every single night just minutes from our house!

The main living area has a 20+ foot ceiling and 3 skylights, and plenty of comfortable seating for people to gather in various configurations. It has a small HD TV, a music system and the fireplace. The air conditioning in this area is provided by a ductless system which cools the whole open living/dining room and kitchen area, as well as the upstairs loft area overlooking the living room space. The sliders along the back wall of the living room section of this area give access to the first floor deck and the yard beyond. Windows in the dining area give additional views of the yard and marsh, and another window in the kitchen section looks out at holly bushes and across the front yard of the house. Our kitchen includes all necessary cooking utensils and spices to create your own delicious meals at home, if you’re so inclined.

Each sleeping area provides its own special advantages - the largest bedroom, located at the top of the stairs to the second floor, is a floor-through room offering marsh and sky views from windows on both sides as well as a TV and DVD, and allowing enough room to comfortably hold a small couch in addition to the king-sized bed and other furnishings; the other second floor bedroom holds a queen-sized bed and offers access to a small private balcony/deck overlooking the back yard and adjoining marsh and furnished with a bistro table and two chairs; the first floor bedroom houses two twin beds, looks out across the main deck and into the back yard, and features its own access to the first floor bathroom; and the bedroom/reading room, located on the lower level, has a day bed with a trundle underneath, a configuration that can be used as two twin beds or converted into a king bed using a 'Kingmaker' stored in the closet, and includes a large sitting area and easy access to the back yard through the slider in the adjoining family room. There is ample closet and dresser space in each room.

The spacious family room itself holds a large flat-screen HD TV with a DVD player and a broad selection of board games and children’s toys. There is a wide variety of seating options for guests wishing to relax in this area, plus a small desk/work space and additional sleeping accommodations in the form of a futon couch which opens into another full-sized bed. Sliders along the back wall provide direct access into the back yard from this area.

The main deck is located on the first floor and accessed through sliders from the living room. This deck spans the width of the house and looks out across the large back yard and into the adjoining marsh brush. The birds absolutely love the marsh brush and there are fantastic bird watching opportunities from here! The deck holds a new Weber gas grill and comfortable seating, including a hammock, for up to 10 guests, as well as a dining table with umbrella.

We're in an ideal location - .3 mile from Boat Meadow Beach on the bay side, one of the most beautiful beaches in Eastham; .7 mile from entry onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail (22 miles of paved off-street riding through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet with many opportunities to get off the trail to visit a beach or a town to browse or shop or find food, water and public restrooms); only a mile from Rock Harbor and the center of Orleans; and just 5 miles from Coast Guard Beach and the beginning of the National Seashore that runs up the ocean side of outer Cape Cod in one direction, and from the beautiful trails and fresh-water ponds of Nickerson State Park in the other direction. Cape Cod is the second most visited golf destination in the United States, and we're located only 6.5 miles from the Cape's premier public golf facility - The Captains Golf Course.

Beyond the attractions of our immediate surroundings, our position at the southern-most edge of Eastham puts us only slightly past the midpoint of the Cape, no more than 25 miles from Provincetown or any other possible destination point on the Outer Cape, and only a little bit more than that from the Bourne or Sagamore Bridges that bring you onto Cape Cod at the other end.

We really enjoyed it

The house was exactly as explained in the description. It was clean and all the amenities worked well. I was there with 4 adult children and my husband, and the set up of the house worked well for us. Dorian was responsive to all our questions. My only comment is that the house is on a semi busy road, and if you like to walk or bike, you may have to drive to our destination first. Overall a great experience.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments! We really appreciate them :-) I agree that it would be wonderful if our immediate area was quiet enough that we could use it as a walking or biking destination on its own! We would love that! But even though it's not that, we're close enough to those kinds of destination points that for us we've found the road quiet enough to use for the brief trip needed to get to those quieter areas without always having to drive there - we walk the 1/3 mile to the beach on it and bike the 7/10 mile to the Rail Trail.show moreshow less

Wonderful family vacation

We had a wonderful, relaxing family vacation at this home. The house was very spacious, clean and up to date. The kitchen was perfect for cooking family meals, and we ate on the patio at night. We had 4 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs and still plenty of room to relax and separate if we needed to. We took daily walks to Boat Meadow beach, which is right at the end of the street. You are able to walk out almost a mile at low tide - perfect for the little kids to run around. We also rode our bikes to the Cape Cod Bike trail, which is only a 5 minute bike ride away. I would love to stay here again and would recommend it to any families! show more show less

Great place to stay

We stayed in July and the house was a wonderful surprise. We had another family rent with us, and the amount of area to spread out was terrific for two families. House was very clean and well equipped with almost everything you would need from cooking to beach items. House has great air conditioning which was awesome for the hot days and nights we had during our week there. The house is a duplex but never heard or saw the people on the other side. The walk to the beach was a little too far but a great bike ride or a minute by car. My husband would drop us off and then use a bike to ride back, worked great if you wanted to stay close to the house. Would I rent this house again?.... Absolutely! It's a gem!!! show more show less

The home that has it all!

I love this house for all the comfort and conveniences it offers. I have chosen to stay in this home time and time again with my group of artist friends to paint on the Cape. We usually have 7-8 people who fit comfortably in this home that is located very close to our favorite scenic beaches. We enjoy the spacious and open floor plan of the house that provides room for all of us to sit and enjoy our meals together, meet to discuss our paintings, and still have room to retreat to private spaces when we are ready for alone time.

Clean, contemporary tasteful decor in all rooms offers delight to our aesthetic sensibilities...

A wonderful choice for a pleasant stay on the Cape... My favorite!

Wonderful Fully Equipped Vacation Home - This terrific vacation home was even better than we expected. We've never stayed in a vacation rental that was so well equipped. It had virtually everything you might need. For example, the Weber gas grill was better and fancier than our own. It had multiple TVs, a great stereo, comfortable furniture, a super well equipped kitchen, games for adults, toys for children and so much more. You won't be disappointed. And, the owners are a joy to work with!

Wonderful Eastham getaway - We had a glorious time at our Cape Cod vacation. The house is amazing, great layout, high ceilings, spacious bedrooms. Big and comfortable for our family of 7. 3 teenagers stayed downstairs which was great for them, with private access to backyard, tv room and reading area. Nice backyard with enough room for volleyball or croquet. Beautiful marsh views from the deck. Great taste and well appointed in all details. We were a little concerned about the privacy with the house being a duplex. We had neighbors, and it was still private. The beach is 5 minutes away and kids walked with no problem. This beach is great for little kids with low tides and natural pools. Teenagers rode their bikes to WindMill downtown Estham for picnics. We drove to other beaches and it was easy and nice. In addition to all local fun. The house us greatly located, specially if you have different age kids with distinct tastes. Eastham and the house is close tp both bay beaches as well as ocean, with bugger waves. We also went off roading, weekly permit is easily bought in Provincetown (Race Point Beach), and we totally recommend it! Deep sea fishng was very entertaining and fruitful :) Nice restaurant options are less than 10mins away in Orleans. And if you feel inclined, PTown is 40 mins away! Dorian was great! Always available - I had LOTS of questions ALL the time and responsive! We had an amazing time and will totally recommend this house and hope to go back soon!

Beautiful Home - Updated - Every Convenience - This house was one of the best I have occupied on the Cape. It had everything you would need in a home and was well organized. The owner was a delight to work with. She helped us with all our questions prior to booking, left detailed directions about everything in the house and she followed up after our arrival to make sure we found everything. -The location was perfect too - easy access to most places on the Cape - ocean, bay beach, restaurants and cape attractions. -The kitchen and baths were updated and well stocked. Beach chairs and towels were also available for use. - The living space was very comfortable. The house had a very relaxing feng shui set up and it was very spacious. -Nice deck to enjoy breakfast and bird watch. It is obvious that this owner takes pride in her home and wants her guests to be comfortable. This one is a keeper!! show more show less

A Great Cape Cod Family Vacation - Our family of seven spent a week at this lovely home in Eastham, MA on Cape Cod. The location was great, not too far from anything we wanted to do - National Seashore, miniature golfing, nature walk with National Park Guide, kayaking in Orleans harbor, good restaurants, plenty of choices for our family favorite ice cream after dinner. The house was perfect for our family. We cooked more a than a few meals in the lovely and well equipped kitchen; we grilled on the Weber grill one night; we enjoyed hanging out together in the living room and eating together around the table as well as playing lots of games that the owner provided. The bedrooms were lovely and accommodated our family nicely. Our adult daughter slept downstairs on the trundle bed and had lots of privacy. We all watched a DVD on a beautiful, large screen. We also took advantage of the washer/dryer. We came home with very few dirty clothes! Even saw a rainbow one night. Everything was clean and well maintained. Of course, I would recommend this house to friends and relatives. show more show less

The house was perfect! - The house was beautifully decorated, lots of room. Many extras not generally found in rental properties: paper towels, dish soap, beach towels etc. Brand new washer and dryer, gourmet kitchen (although I can't say we used it to it's full extent as we went out often! The house was in a great location, close to the national seashore beaches and bay beaches as well as restaurants and stores. The master bedroom was huge! The room darkening shades made sleeping so comfortable. Although the house was located on a well traveled road, didn't hear car noise inside, never even heard the people staying in the other half of the duplex! Stayed a week with my husband and 2 grown children and there was more than enough space. We found plenty to do at home on the one rainy day mid-week and netflix was also a treat!Dorian was always accesible to answer any questions I had! Great vacation! show more show less

Perfect location in Eastham - Our trip back to the Cape has restarted a family summer tradition from 15 years ago when we used to go every year. Now, there are six of us and we needed a bigger place. This house is actually half of a duplex, but we never heard a peep from the owner next door and it "lives like a house". We used the house as a base to explore the Cape from Hyannis to Provincetown. It was clean, well stocked, comfy, and met all of our family's needs. We walked down to the beach, joined the rail trail in Orleans for the kids to skateboard while my wife and I sported rollerblades (at age 50). We visited P-Town twice, ate 5 dozen oysters among us and many scallop or lobster rolls. We made Smores in the fireplace twice and loved sipping coffee out on the deck. If the local restaurants weren't so great (read "Arnold's where we went twice), I would have used the grill. We loved Eastham and Orleans so much, we are looking for property there ourselves. Nickerson State Park is minutes away and we spent a day there swimming and hiking around Big Cliff Pond (for $5, a Cape bargain). We walked the trails at the Salt Pond all the way out to Coast Guard Beach and also spent half a day at Nauset Beach. In the short run, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. The owner was very helpful in all emails and referred me to a broker to find our own piece of the Cape. With the quiet location, a beach within walking distance, proximity to shopping in Orleans, big deck with a grill and hammock, wifi, and easy rail trail access, this place is just perfect. I recommend a day in Provincetown (<25 minutes away) for shopping, a whale watch, then dinner at "The Lobster Pot." show more show less

I’m a nursery school teacher and recreational artist and my husband is an engineer. We both grew up in the NYC area. Growing up I enjoyed all the City had to offer, but ever since early childhood I always felt like I really came alive when we visited the ocean. My family had friends with a place on outer Cape Cod and I always found the beautiful, rugged relatively unpopulated beaches, dunes and cliffs out here especially magical. I couldn't spend enough time here. When I grew up I used to make extra trips up to the Cape several time a year, both on my own and with friends, just to walk the beaches and breath the air. When our younger son was two years old my husband and I started taking our boys on an annual camping vacation in Nickerson State Park in Brewster. That's where we first discovered the truly awesome beauty of Cape Cod's kettle ponds - Nickerson has some of the most pristine examples that we've found on the entire Cape! The boys grew up loving those weeks of waking up surrounded by woods, trails to hike or bike on, and ponds to swim in, interrupted only by visits to Provincetown for sight-seeing and eating fun, the National Seashore to dare the ocean waves, whale watching, mini-golf, kayaking, outdoor movies and other fun activities, and rainy day excursions to various local museums and galleries. It's only in the last few years, with the boys grown up and our backs grown cranky that we started really looking around for a more long term Cape Cod landing place.

What is special about this property?
But that place had to be very special, offer immediate access to all the magic of both my own childhood Cape Cod experiences and my children's, and yet provide all the creature comforts that our now older, more settled and matured selves demanded. This property really does offer everything we wanted, in terms of location, Cape Cod ''feeling'' inside and out, and total comfort! Thanks to it's many large windows and its electronically adjustable skylights our home is bright and cheerful even on the greyest day (although we do have adjustable shades on all windows and the skylights, in case you occasionally want a break from that sun)! The skylights open and close so if you're like me and love that Cape Cod air you can revel in it even while you're inside. Every room in the house is generously proportioned and the cathedral ceiling in the main living area gives me an extra feeling of openness with room to stretch up and breath. We also have a very large deck and a smaller upstairs balcony, both overlooking the marsh, and a big back yard to run around in. The marsh and sky views from the decks, and the sense of quiet, broken only by the birds, can take my breath away. Of course, since I could never give up the joys of our evening campfires, we have a fireplace too. But this one is indoors, so you can relax on the couch and armchairs in our very comfortable living room and enjoy all the fiery pleasures without any outdoor discomforts.

What is special about your town?
Besides all the wonderful qualities of the property itself, it's also ideally located right in the elbow of Cape Cod, approximately 25 miles in either direction from anything you might possibly want to do on the Cape. Closer to home Boat Meadow's beautiful quiet bay beach, perfect for daytime frolics and evening sunset strolls, is just a short walk down the road, as close as the nearest kettle pond was to our Nickerson campsite. The Rail Trail is less than a mile from the house, so we can still take our long bike rides up and down the Cape. The National Seashore begins just 5 miles away in one direction and the unmatched ponds and trails of Nickerson State Park are 5 miles in the other. And the town of Orleans, with all its cultural, recreational, eating and shopping opportunities is just 1 mile from the house, as is the last large grocery and shopping center on the outer Cape. We have it all and we love it!
