Little did we know when we first rented the Hedbergs’ house 12+ years ago, we would return year after year to build innumerable family vacation memories. Each year this place welcomes us back to relax, explore, and play together.
Nestled on a quiet road just behind the Cape Cod Rail Trail, the house is within a couple miles of our favorite ocean and bayside beaches and walking distance of the library, windmill/town green, and Eastham Superette. Situated on a slight hill, the picturesque setting offers solitude as well as convenience. Our kids enjoy playing in the large yard while the adults relax on the back deck, stretch out in lawn chairs around the fire pit, or recline in the hammock. We can carry our kayaks to the pond without breaking a sweat, but we welcome the option of lounging on the small, sandy beach area or taking a quick dip if we feel like it.
The house itself is spacious, light-filled, and comfortably, creatively and completely furnished without being cluttered. There’s plenty of elbow room for up to eight people to gather in the open, airy living room in the center of the house. We especially appreciate that the sizeable bedrooms allow half of the occupants to sleep in one section of the house and half in the other—the unique layout is conducive to getting a quiet night’s rest. And because there are large closets and ample dresser drawers in each of the rooms, we never feel as if we’re tripping over our belongings—or over each other!
The house is always sparking clean when we arrive and on the rare occasions when we’ve needed Eric to address an issue, he is invariably helpful and immediately responsive. We recommend it wholeheartedly, knowing what a truly special place it is.
