I have been renting out my house since 2003 and I am happy to say that renters are typically very pleased with the house. This year 50% of the renters are returnees, not at all unusual for the house. I've had about five families over the years who have returned for 8 years or more (one this year is coming back for the 12th year), which strikes me as a nice testament to the property. I make it a practice to call the family on the first day to ensure that everything is all right, and I like to think (and have been told) that I am deeply committed to resolving any might hamper interfere with a great vacation. I think that's the least that I can do to make sure that the renter's money is well spent -- and that they will return.
What is special about this property?
The swimming pool seems to be a great drawing card. In addition, the property has a very large side yard (one renter refers to it as ''the football field'') for frisbee, soccer, bocce, etc., and it has a ping pong table in the garage. The house is also unusual in that it has a large room, with four beds, for kids. Also, many families like the screened in porch and the outdoor shower. For readers, it has a broad selection of books, and the cable system includes almost all of the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.)
What is special about your town?
Dennis is a wonderful town with many nearby restaurants (including two very cool independent coffee shops), antique stores, grocery stores, movie theaters, the country's oldest summer theater (Cape Cod Playhouse) -- and at least four public beaches. For those not familiar with the Cape, these are Bay Side beaches, great for kids because at low tide the water goes waaay out, perfect for long walks or runs on the flats and hunting for shells. And on hot days when the tide comes in during the afternoon, the sun heats the flats, making for relatively warm water (far warmer than on the ocean side). Dennis is very nicely situated in the middle of the Cape, providing fairly easy access to the extremes of the Cape, Provincetown on one end, Sandwich on the other, as well as Hyannis (15 minutes away), which has its own charms and boats to take you for a get-away to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
